REBUILDING EFFORTS CONTINUE IN 2011 There are clear signs that the global personal care and household care industry is on the mend. For example, sales of prestige skin care products rebounded in the second half of 2010 and even the moribund fine fragrance industry had a good December. All of the recent data suggest that the industry is regaining some of the luster that was lost during The Great Recession. As consumers become more confident and begin shopping in earnest again, household and personal product manufacturers must ramp up R&D efforts to deliver innovative products that provide a difference that consumers can see and feel—whether it’s a shampoo, laundry detergent, skin care product or household cleaner. With their research programs reinvigorated, marketers are looking for suppliers that can deliver novel ingredients and packaging components, along with the data that’s necessary to back up claims. If you’re searching for a supplier to help you roll out innovative products, take a moment to learn more about the companies found in our annual *Corporate Profiles issue. Now in its 15th year, *Corporate Profiles gives our readers a convenient and comprehensive look at household and personal product industry suppliers, their facilities, products and areas of expertise. Whether you’re looking for active ingredients, stock bottles, fragrance compounds, surfactants, botanical extracts or testing services, *Happi Corporate Profiles provides information on each company’s background, products and the markets they serve, as well as the technology, patents, new products, key personnel, specialized services and global capabilities unique to each company. To make the most out of *Happi Corporate Profiles, please see the table of contents on page 2. All of the companies within these pages are excellent sources of innovative ingredients or novel packaging concepts. Once you’ve had a chance to flip through *Happi Corporate Profiles, we’re sure that you’ll find a partner to help you create all of those innovative products that today’s consumer demands.

Chemrez Technologies, Inc. is a creative and dynamic industrial group founded in 1963 by two brothers, Dean and Leon Lao. Through the years, the company has evolved from a trader of chemicals into a diversified manufacturer. In 1982, we pioneered the manufacturing of coconut methylester in the Philippines. Today we employ 520 commercial and technical staff- all with the same customer-centric orientation as the founders. Chemrez operates a continuous-process methylester plant with fractionation-distillation capacity of 60,000 TPY; and a 9,000 TPY amide and specialty plant. These two plants are served by a newly completed physical refining plant for crude coconut oil. We are able to bring our vast experience in food, polymer and oleochemical to the home care and personal care industries. We give customers tailor-made products or system solutions for a competitive advantage. Our Integrated Management

Green Chemical Solutions™ To meet best customer demands Cognis developed already beginning of 2007 its Green Chemical Solutions™ classification system. One part of it - Portfolio Easy Guide - categorizes Cognis raw materials into different levels of "naturalness". In the second step, the system focuses on the naturalness of complete formulations and their performance shown by the Green Formulation Grid. Four different levels of “greenness” of the formulation are measured against three levels of performance, always rated by the consumers’ expectations. Additionally, the Regulation Easy Guide tells customers which regulatory and certification standards are existing so far and to which extent the various Cognis ingredients comply with selected certifications.
Dehydem® Supra - a novel, efficient defoamer for industrial and institutional cleaning applications that is easy to formulate in waterbased solutions and additionally provides a visible cleaning benefit. It is also suitable for low temperature applications and offers several possibilities to enhance the green development in such aspects as ecotoxicity, saving energy and reducing complexity in cleaning applications. SLIMEXIRTM -The Silhouette Refiner SLIMEXIR™ effectively refines the silhouette, while fighting excessive fat. It’s well-designed composition consists of X-Melt™, a synergistic blend of Methyl Xanthines, extract of Artichoke (Cynara scolymus) and the polysaccharide Levan all supporting each other. X-Melt™ leads to reduced maturation of Adipocytes, thus preventing fat uptake into these fat storing cells. Each of SLIMEXIR™‘s constituents activate lipolysis, which triggers the fragmentation and decomposition of the existing fat. X-Melt™ and the Artichoke extract stimulate cutaneous microcirculation and promote the transport of the broken-down fat. Furthermore, Levan provides a tightening effect on the skin. The application of SLIMEXIR™ potently leads to a significant reduction of abdomen volume after two months. REFORCYLTM - Nutrition & Resistance for Mature Skin REFORCYL™ regenerates the weakened barrier of mature skin whilst fighting the five signs of skin ageing. skin moisture, firmness, wrinkle depth, elasticity and smoothness are all significantly improved. Three important components provide this: Gynostemma pentaphyllum from the Far East activates LXR and strengthens the skin barrier from within. Cistus incanus from the West improves the reduced antioxidant defence system of mature skin; reactive oxygen species are better neutralised once again. The amino acid Glutamine supplies the energy needed for the cell to work more efficiently. HYALU-CAGE SYSTEM® - A new biomaterial for the delivery of cosmetics active ingredients HYALU-CAGE SYSTEM® is a Hydrogel of cross-linked Hyaluronic Acid. It forms a three-dimensional network where active ingredients can be fixed inside a polymer matrix in a similar way to being in a cage. When applied topically, the skins natural Hyaluronidase enzymes break down the cage system over time, thus provoking the release of the active ingredient.
