Fairies & Wishes
Chapter One She was in big trouble. Lily turned this way and that, her full skirt swishing around her legs. She smoothed her hands over the whisper thin fabric, picking it up with the tips of her fingers and letting it fall back into place. She always got fidgety when called before the council. They made her nervous. She didn’t know why. She did a good job, did what they asked her to do. Usually. “Miss Lily, are you ready?” She turned and saw the newest sprite smiling shyly at her, holding the door open. Her pretty pale blue wings fluttered behind her, the sign of a true novice. Only newbies lacked wing control. Lily could proudly say she’d had her wings under control for years. She smiled at the sprite and walked into the room. A knot formed in her stomach when she saw who sat at the center of the large table. Not just Mistress, the head of the fairy council. No, the actual Madam Fairy. The one everyone answered to. Lily gulped. Jeez, what had she done? At least her wings weren’t flapping. Her nerves must’ve shown, because Mistress smiled at her, kindness shining in her eyes. “Sit down, Lily.” Madam pointed to the lone chair that sat before the long table. Important head fairies sat on either side of the madam, including Mistress, the fairy Lily normally took orders from. “How are you, dear?”

Karen Erickson Lily clenched her hands in her lap, and they sank into the diaphanous folds of her dress. “I—I’m fine, Madam. Is everything all right?” “Everything is fine, Lily. Madam has a proposition for you.” Mistress smiled at her, her pink sparkly eyelashes fluttering. How Lily envied those eyelashes. She envied everything about Mistress, because everything having to do with her was pink. Mistress had pretty pink hair, the pink eyelashes, a sweet pink mouth, her skin glittery and pale pink— not to mention all of her pink clothes. Just the thought of that pink wardrobe made Lily want to sigh with longing. Pink was her favorite color. But it was reserved for the children fairies. Lily was a holiday fairy, which meant she wore head to toe red. Dark red hair, ruby red lips, pale skin—to emphasize those red lips you know—and every red dress imaginable. So dark, so dramatic, so red. For once Lily wanted to be light and whimsical, airy and free, beloved by children. Pink and sparkly. This could be her chance. Maybe. “Yes, Mistress is right, I have a proposition for you. Something we believe you’ll be very interested in.” Madam smiled at her. Since she was the top of the line fairy, Madam wore white. Crystal clear, pristine white, with just a hint of sparkle. All of it emphasized her fair‐haired, fair‐ skinned beauty. The most beautiful fairy of all. Lily nodded, excited, and she squirmed in her seat. If they were going to offer her a children fairy position, she would probably faint with glee. “We need you to do something special this Christmas season.” Madam paused, her pale, pale blue eyes meeting Mistress’ before she looked at Lily. “We need you to teach someone how to love.” “A child?” Lily couldn’t help herself; she had to ask. A glittering pink dress was in her future. She could just feel it. “Oh, no children involved in this situation, no. We have plenty of children fairies, and you’re one of our top holiday fairies after all. We wouldn’t move you from your position.” Lily slumped in her chair. Bye‐bye pink. “I thank you for the
5
Fairies & Wishes compliment, but what do I know about love? I’ve never been a mortal, I just pretend to be one during the holidays.” And it was exhausting work, being a mortal. Those humans knew how to put someone through the ropes. So many emotions, so many senses, so many thoughts! It hurt her head just to think about it. “How long have you been a holiday fairy, Lily?” Lily tapped her lips with her index finger, thinking. “I have no idea, to be honest. I know it’s been a long time.” “Two hundred and twenty‐eight years, to be exact.” Mistress looked up from her pile of notes. “You’re one of our oldest fairies, Lily. We need you. He needs you.” Lily’s eyebrows rose. “He? Who is this he?” “The mortal who needs to learn how to love, the one you’re going to help. You see, Lily, there’s a theme to this year’s Christmas candidates. We’re teaching people how to love, how to live again. But this one, the one you’ll be working with, he won’t let anyone into his life, doesn’t want to deal with love. He’s too afraid.” Madam shook her head. Great. What did they call that type of behavior? Maybe he’s a recluse. He could be miserable and mean‐spirited, too. Oh, my. Those types were usually the worst. “Why is he such a special case? I don’t understand.” “He’s a very important man. What he offers to his society is so very wonderful, but he doesn’t allow anyone to get close. He’s lost so much, he’s afraid he’ll only lose again and again.” Madam’s brow wrinkled. “He has such a wall up no one is able to penetrate it. That’s where you come in.” “I need to penetrate his wall?” Now Lily was really confused. She thought that was what the mortal man did to the mortal woman. Not that she had any experience in it, but still. She kind of knew what they talked about. The sex thing. Oh, her mind was wandering when she needed to focus… So why did they want her to help this man, teach him how to love when she didnʹt know how herself? She knew all about holiday spirit, knew how to fill an empty person with the spirit until they were full to

Karen Erickson bursting. But love? All of the fairies tittered, delicate hands covering their giggling mouths. “Oh, Lily, you’re going to be perfect.” Madam said. “We know you will be. You’re just what he needs.” Lily had no idea what that meant. And she wasn’t sure if she even liked it. * * * * * “Dr. Killian, your last appointment for the day cancelled.” Tim glanced at his receptionist as he cruised past her desk. “Thanks, Angie. You can go ahead and go home for the night.” There was no denying the relief in her eyes at the thought of leaving at a decent hour. Not that he could blame her. He’d been working poor Angie, his entire staff, to the bone, and during the holidays, too. They weren’t complaining about all of the money they were making, but he could see on their faces they didn’t enjoy so many hours. They had families to go home to, presents to buy, Christmas trees to decorate. And he had none of that. Tim sighed. No time to get sentimental now. It wasn’t anyone’s fault he lost both of his parents in a tragic accident a few years ago. That they were older and their parents and siblings had all passed before them. They had struggled to have a baby for so many years that when Tim finally arrived, they didn’t bother trying for any more. Which meant he was totally and completely alone. He tried not to let it bother him. Yeah, he missed his parents. They’d been wonderful people; supportive, loving. He had only fond memories of them, memories that didn’t bother him for most of the year. Christmas was the exception, though. When everyone promoted family and gift giving and being with the ones you love, traveling over hills and snow to get to grandmother’s house, that’s when it got to him. When he missed his mom and dad more than anything, and wished he had someone to share his life with. Dreamy sentiment is for fools, he told himself. He grabbed a couple of
7
Fairies & Wishes files from his desk and shoved them into his briefcase, then snapped it shut. He grabbed his coat, turned off the lights in his office, and left for the night, too tired to get any paperwork done. Too tired and too sad, though he would never admit to the last thought. Outside the night air was cold and windy, even more so than normal for the time of year on the coast. He shivered in his thick coat, put his head down against the wind, and stuck his hands in his pockets, heading toward the lot where he parked his car. And collided so hard with someone he knocked the little person to the ground. “Ow!” Tim watched in fascination as the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen in his life glared up at him with angry green eyes. She sat on the sidewalk, the impact of their collision having knocked her right on her butt, her hand rubbing said butt as she grimaced. Even in pain she was gorgeous. The deepest, darkest red hair curled in big waves around her tiny shoulders, a heart shaped face, full, juicy red lips, and pale skin that appeared so smooth, so flawless, it almost didn’t look real. “Are you going to help me up, or you gonna just stand there and gawk at me all night?” And a sassy mouth to wrap that pretty package up all nice and neat with a not‐so‐flawless bow. Of course she was right, he was acting like a gaping jackass. Tim offered his hand and she took it, hauling herself up with one smooth motion. The second their hands connected he felt the zing. A tightening in the pit of his stomach, a twitching in his groin. Something he’d certainly never experienced the first time he touched a woman before… “Are you okay?” he asked, trying to ignore the tumultuous feelings swirling inside of him. She nodded, brushed her hair away from her face. “I’m fine. The sidewalk is like ice, it’s so cold.” She rubbed her little butt again, and Tim couldn’t help but watch, fascinated by the slide of her slim hand on her curves.

Karen Erickson “I’m sorry I ran into you. I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going.” “I know.” She smiled, easing the sting of her sarcastic remark. “But I forgive you.” “Thank you.” He smiled. The weird nervous feeling eased, and he began to feel like himself again. He decided to turn on the charm, the normal device he used on women. Keep it light, keep it flirty, and don’t let them get too close. A personal motto he’d kept to always. “I’m a doctor, you know, so if you need me to check you out, I would be more than happy to oblige. Make sure your…backside is okay.” An unladylike snort was her reply. “I’m sure you would,” she muttered with a shake of her head. Huh. “What do you mean by that?” She rolled her eyes, causing him to notice just how vivid green they were. Full of angry little sparks, too. He lived in a small town, why had he never seen this woman before? “That was the worst line I’ve heard by far. Does that work on all of the women you bump into?” “It’s not like I bump into women on purpose…” “Uh huh.” She nodded and started to walk away. “Thank you, doctor, but I don’t need a full body examination tonight.” Tim watched her go, admiring the subtle sway of her narrow hips, the way her skirt billowed around her legs. Insane to wear a skirt in this kind of weather in the middle of December, even if she did have a heavy coat and knee length boots on. Sexy black leather boots that fit her legs just so. Boots he could imagine unzipping slowly and slipping off her feet, revealing a long expanse of pale slim leg… He shook his head. No use having lusty thoughts about that one, he thought. He again headed for his car. Talk about unreceptive. His charm must be weakening. * * * * * So she had to work with that? Lily shook her head and picked up the pace, hugging her waist tight against the bitter cold. Handsome as sin

Fairies & Wishes with a devil’s smile and one of the tackiest lines she’d ever heard in all her years! And she’d heard a lot of them. Some so good she would never forget, and some so awful they were burned in her brain for all eternity. The one Dr. Timothy Killian just used on her ranked right up there in the awful category. Actually, what he said wasn’t that bad. It didn’t help she’d reacted so strongly to him. When their bodies connected and she’d landed on the sidewalk, it wasn’t just from the fall. She’d been so overwhelmed by the brief contact of his body against hers it sent her toppling. The way he looked at her, the feeling of her hand in his. All of it had made her shiver, and she wanted to shiver again just thinking about it. So she did. She’d never experienced anything like it before. Such awareness for a mortal. The emotions she normally dealt with were all about spirit and joy, warmth and remembrance. She’d never been so aware of another human being, never wondered what it would feel like to have him touch her in a more intimate way. Goodness, she’d never been touched in an intimate way besides polite hugs and the occasional peck on the cheek. She’d heard about sex, learned the basics from the few movies she’d watched during her time on earth, but she’d never experienced it. She didn’t know what it was like to have a man hold her, touch her tenderly, kiss her. Now, though... Now Lily wondered…

Chapter Two “There’s a woman here to see you.” Tim glanced at the phone, staring hard at the speaker and wishing he could see who was waiting for him. “Does she have an appointment?” “No, but she said she’d like one.” He could tell by the tone of her voice that Angie was irritated. “Tell her to make one and come back when I can see her.” “Um, doctor…” Angie’s voice lowered. “She wants to see you now, and she won’t take no for an answer.” “Are you telling me she won’t leave until I see her?” Who could this be? Sometimes his older patients got a little hardheaded, but come on. “That’s exactly what I’m telling you.” “What’s her name?” “Lily Fairington. She’s not on our patient list. She said she’s a new patient.” Tim’s brow wrinkled. He had never heard of a Lily Fairington. Oh, well. “My next appointment is in fifteen minutes?” “Yes, at one‐thirty.” “Send her in.” He pushed the button on the speakerphone to end the call, and then sighed. He didn’t want to deal with a pissed off patient today. He was too tired. Sleep didn’t come easy to him last night. Not that it ever did during the holidays. He was about to get up and go greet his new patient when the office door swung open. His mouth opened slightly in awe at the sight
11
Fairies & Wishes before him. He couldn’t believe it—the beautiful redhead he’d run into last night stood in his doorway. She looked extraordinary with her hair pulled into a high ponytail, skin pale and smooth like porcelain, green eyes glittering. He thought he’d only imagined how beautiful she was last night while he relived the moments of their meeting as he tried to fall sleep. He realized she was even more beautiful than he remembered. “Dr. Killian?” She arched a perfect red brow. “Do you remember me?” “Of course.” Tim stood and came around the desk to stand before her. “I just didn’t know your name. What can I do for you, Miss Fairington?” Lily winced, her hand automatically going to her backside. “I need your help.” “Something bothering you?” He’d been joking when he offered to check her out last night, but he’d also been a little serious. He knew she’d taken a hard fall and figured she was back because she hurt. Probably a lot. How did she even know where to find him? He didn’t offer his name last night, only his profession. Of course, Santa Augustina was small and it wouldn’t take much to find him… She nodded. “When I bumped into you last night—I think I bruised myself. Bad.” “Are you asking me to check it out?” At least she had the decency to appear chagrined. “Please. I’m in a lot of pain.” “Show me where it hurts.” This could get interesting. Her eyelids fluttered. Dark red eyelashes curved like fans against her pale skin. He’d never seen hair like hers before in his life, had never even been remotely attracted to redheads. Didn’t even know such a vivid shade existed. Could the hair between her thighs be just as red? He had the urge to find out. Tim cleared his throat. He shouldn’t even be remotely attracted to this woman who was now his patient. It went against everything he
12
Karen Erickson believed in, but he couldn’t seem to help himself. Lily turned around, rubbing her lower back. “It hurts right here.” “Okay.” He took a step closer, his hands hovering above where she demonstrated. His fingers actually trembled, he was so anxious to touch her. “And right here.” Her slender hands slid down, over her pert little ass, and Tim closed his eyes, cleared his throat. “Why don’t we go to one of my examination rooms and I’ll check you out there? You can change into a gown so I can have, um, easier access.” Oh, God, even that sounded sexual. He needed to get a grip. “All right.” She gazed up at him, her eyes wide, trusting. “You’ll be able to do something to ease the pain?” Tim nodded, and his heart started to pound. If only she knew what he wanted to do to help ease her pain. She’d slap him silly and report him to the medical board for sure. “Follow me and you can start getting undressed.” Remember, she’s a patient. Get your mind out of the gutter! He led her to an exam room and opened the door for her. She sashayed past him, her scent wafting after her, and he literally broke out into a sweat. His mind was already so deep in the gutter there was no way he would climb out anytime soon. * * * * * Goodness, she’d never felt such pain before in her life. She’d barely been able to sleep her backside had hurt so much last night. Lily had no idea mortals suffered so. If Mister Doctor Man couldn’t fix her immediately, she would have her fellow fairy roommates concoct a spell this very evening. She held up the gown he left folded on the tall table, peering at it. He wanted her to actually wear a thin piece of nothing so he could examine her? There was nothing to the thing! She shrugged out of her sweater, slipped out of her skirt, and pulled the cotton gown on, leaving it agape in the front. She glanced down, noticing that her pink cotton bra and
13
Fairies & Wishes matching panties were exposed. If she couldn’t be a pink fairy she could at least wear pink undergarments, right? But she didn’t really want the doctor checking her out. Did she? Maybe she did. Maybe she wanted him to see her cute underwear. She didn’t look half bad, though she didn’t have the nice curves some of the other fairies had. All of the women in the fashion magazines she liked to glance at definitely had more curves than she. Did he like curves? Maybe he wouldn’t like her, wouldn’t be impressed with her body, or with her looks in general. Goodness, why should she even care? Because you’re supposed to teach him how to love. How else can you do that unless you make him fall in love with you? Lily had been pondering the situation since she met him last night. She was supposed to teach Timothy Killian how to love, so she planned on having him fall in love with her first. Then she would just follow his lead. Easy, right? Wrong. She didn’t know how to make someone fall in love with her, didn’t know how to teach someone how to love. Yet, what if it worked? He would fall in love with her, and she would help him become a better person. Once she accomplished her mission, what would happen next, though? She’d have to leave. She always had to leave the day after Christmas. That was the normal way of things. She’d go back to Fairy Land, as she liked to call it, and wait until the next holiday season. So what would happen to the handsome doctor? He’d be left with a broken heart and right back at square one. The door opened, startling her from her thoughts, and she clutched the front of the gown close to her. The handsome doctor seemed to fill the room, nearly overwhelming her, but not in a bad way. Oh, no, in a very good way. His shoulders were so broad, his long legs strong and muscular—she could tell even beneath the khaki pants he wore. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up, revealing tanned forearms covered in dark hair, and she couldn’t help but stare at his hands clutching a clipboard. Long fingers she could imagine touching her, capable hands
14
Karen Erickson that would take care of her. Hmm, she never thought capable a very sexy word but considering him, oh yes… “Miss Fairington? Are you all right?” His brows furrowed with concern, his knuckles white as he clutched the clipboard. She must look like an idiot clad in a ridiculous gown and staring at him with such longing. Her best bet would be to pretend it was the pain making her loony, not him. She rubbed her backside again, still clutching the front of the gown with her other hand. “I’m just in pain, Doctor.” “Please, call me Tim.” He set the clipboard on the counter behind him and then rested his hands on his hips. “Why don’t you hop up onto the table while I check your vitals?” “My vitals?” She had no idea to what he referred. She’d never been to the doctor’s office, never had a reason. Spells took care of her ailments, and those were so few and far between she rarely had to worry about it. He looked at her as if she were crazy. “You know, listen to your heartbeat, take your blood pressure, the usual routine.” “Oh.” Lily nodded, pretending she knew exactly what he was talking about. Ha. “Yes, my vitals.” She hopped onto the table, her fingers cramping from holding tight to the front of her gown, but she refused to let go. Now that she had him so close, she didn’t want him to see her nearly naked form. It all made her too nervous. Tim grabbed a funny looking gadget and flicked the tiny switch on the side, flashing a beam of light into each of her eyes. “Pupils look good.” He then picked up a wooden stick and instructed her to open her mouth. “Say aah.” “Aah.” Oh my gosh, that stick tasted awful! She nearly gagged, and he removed it quickly. “Sorry.” He smiled at her, and her body went all fluttery inside. He had the nicest smile she’d ever seen. “Now I need to listen to your heartbeat.” She noticed the strange looking apparatus around his neck, watched him spread it wide and place the ends of the curved pieces in his
15
Fairies & Wishes ears. He held up the other end, and his hand went toward her chest. She stared down at it, then glanced back up at him. What did he want to do with that? “Miss Fairington, I need you to let go of the gown so I can listen to your heart.” He spoke to her low and gentle, as if she were a fussy child. So why did it send fissures of excitement along her nerve endings? Goodness, he had a pleasant sounding voice. Lily released the front of the gown reluctantly, letting it hang open. She heard his sharp intake of breath, and she glanced up at him. A strange sparkle lit in his deep blue eyes. He pressed the silver round thing to her chest, and she jumped. “Cold,” she explained, when his eyes met hers. He stood there silent while he held the apparatus to her chest, seeming to listen with the things in his ears. He finally removed the round metal object, rubbing his hand over it. “Sorry. I normally warm it with my hands first, but I must’ve...forgotten.” “It’s all right. How does my heart sound?” “Excuse me?” His gaze met hers, and she realized he’d been staring at her chest. Her pink bra‐clad chest. “My heart. Is it okay?” “It’s fine. Beats a little faster than average, but still in the normal range.” He took her blood pressure with a weird thing that wrapped around her arm and kind of hurt, and peeked into her ears and numerous other little things. She wondered what all of this had to do with her sore backside. None of it made any sense to her, and all of it seemed like a giant waste of time. “Why don’t you stand up and turn around so I can look at your back,” he finally suggested. She did so, presenting her back to him, but he did nothing, just stood there, waiting for her. “Miss Fairington? I need you to take off your, um, gown.” Oh, my. Well, if he wanted her to do that… Lily shrugged her shoulders and let the gown fall into a puddle at
16
Karen Erickson her feet. Her stomach quivered with anticipation, and then his big, warm hands touched her, really touched her for the first time. She closed her eyes when those broad palms brushed over her lower back, firm fingers gently pressing into her skin. “Does it hurt here?” he murmured. “No.” She shook her head, waves of pleasure washing over her. A tingling started low in her belly, landing somewhere in the vicinity between her thighs, and she clutched her legs together. She’d certainly never felt that before. His hands moved lower, brushing against the waistband of her panties. “How about here?” “Not really.” Lily closed her eyes, shocked by the wetness that grew between her legs. Her entire body felt different, and her breath came in short pants. Oh, goodness, she had a strong feeling she was aroused. No wonder mortals went on and on about this stuff… Thick fingers curled around the waistband of her panties and slid them down halfway, revealing her bare backside to him, and she felt her face flush with embarrassment. “You have some pretty bad bruises here.” Fingers skimmed her bottom cheeks, and she very nearly stumbled. Thank goodness the table was pressed against her front, or she would’ve fallen to the floor in a heap with the gown. “I’m sorry, did I hurt you?” Her panties were pulled back up over her derriere, and then the warm fingers were gone. She didn’t know whether to sigh with relief or beg him to touch her again. “No, you didn’t hurt me. Just startled me.” She glanced over her shoulder, his gaze met hers, and she saw it again. A particular sparkle in his eyes that spoke to something deep inside her. Something womanly and feminine and powerful. She had a strong feeling it was interest. As if he might be interested in her. Perfect. “You’ve bruised your tailbone, Miss Fairington. I don’t believe you’ve fractured it, which is good, because that’s very painful and takes a long time to recover from.” He grabbed a notepad and a pen, scribbled
17
Fairies & Wishes quickly and then tore the paper off, handing it to her. “This is a prescription for pain medication. You should take it for at least the next five days. If it’s not any better after a week, then maybe you should call and make another appointment.” Lily looked at the piece of paper, unable to even make out what he wrote. Terrible handwriting. And she couldn’t take any medicine, she didn’t need to, she was a fairy. So, was this it? The end of her opportunity to convince her doctor he should fall in love with her? It couldn’t be. “You can go ahead and get dressed, Miss Fairington. I have another appointment I need to see to, so take care.” He smiled at her and then fled the room, closing the door behind him with a quiet click. She slumped against the table, still clad in her underwear. She’d never felt anything like that before in all her years. His hands upon her, the warm moisture still coating her between her legs. The way he looked at her. She shivered, and not just from the cold. How could she see him again? She didn’t want to wait a week and schedule another appointment. She’d prefer not to meet him at his office again at all. What did people do in situations like this? Lily pondered it for a moment and then snapped her fingers. Dates. They went out on dates. A woman could ask a man on a date, right? She hurriedly threw on her clothes, not wanting to waste a moment.

Chapter Three Damn. That had taken everything he had just to restrain himself. Tim wiped at the sweat on his forehead and fell into the chair behind his desk, needing a moment to collect himself. He knew he had another patient waiting for him but for the first time in his career, he really didn’t care. He closed his eyes, reliving the moment when he first saw Lily in her delicate pink bra and panties. Her smooth pale skin had glowed even under the harsh fluorescent lights, her slight curves turning him on like nothing else he’d seen before. He bit back the groan that wanted to escape. She was his patient. He could not lust after a patient. He never had before, so why now? Many beautiful women had come into his office in the past, some of them had even flirted with him, but he never took the bait. He knew there was a line he couldn’t cross, and he didn’t. To do so would be unethical. Funny how he took one look at a pretty little redhead with glowing green eyes and was ready to toss his ethics right out the window. A loud bang made him jump, and he opened his eyes to find the very object of his lustful affection standing in the doorway, cheeks flushed, eyes blazing. She walked into his office without saying a word and slammed the door behind her, stopping just in front of his desk. “I was wondering if you would like to go out on a date with me.” She stood there, waiting for his answer. He swore he heard her toe tapping against the floor.
19
Fairies & Wishes “A date?” He’d never had a patient ask him out on a date before. Since he wasn’t the one asking, would it be all right to accept? Probably not. “I, uh, appreciate the offer, Lily, but I have a strict no dating policy concerning my patients.” She rolled her eyes, crossed her arms in front of her. “I’m not your patient, so you don’t have to worry about that.” “I just examined you. That counts you among my patients.” “But I don’t even live here. I’m, uh, visiting family for the holidays.” “Really?” Hope rose inside of him, but he didn’t want to get too excited. Maybe they could get around this. “Uh, huh.” Lily nodded. “I...already have another doctor.” “You do?” “Yes, I do.” She smiled, dazzling him with its brightness. “I’m only here through Christmas, and I would really like to go out on a date with you. Will you go with me?” Tim had never had someone ask him out on a date in such a straightforward, simple manner. Hell, he didn’t think he’d ever had a woman ask him out on a date. He’d always considered himself traditional in that sense, but maybe he’d been missing out. He found Lily’s boldness refreshing. “Yes, I’ll go on a date with you.” Her smile grew, and Tim was thankful he was still sitting down. The sheer beauty of her smile would’ve probably knocked him on his ass. “Oh, good. I was worried you’d say no.” Why would she think he’d say no? Didn’t she notice the way he looked at her? He knew it had to be obvious. “So what do you propose we do on this date? And when do you want to have it?” He winced, hoping she didn’t think he sounded dirty. He hadn’t meant it to sound dirty. Lily pursed her lips, her expression thoughtful. “I don’t know. Go to dinner? I have no idea where, though. I’m not very familiar with the town.” “I know of a few restaurants, don’t worry. How does Thursday sound to you?”
20
Karen Erickson “That sounds perfect.” She nodded and turned to open the door but paused, turning back to look at him. “Can I meet you here? My, uh, relatives are kind of weird and it would just be...easier.” “Sure. How about seven o’clock on Thursday?” She smiled again and opened the door. “Wonderful.” * * * * * Third dinner date with the handsome doctor, and Lily had no idea what to do. The first night they went out to dinner, he’d been called out on a medical emergency before the entrees arrived. He had to leave, much to her disappointment. Second date they’d gone to a rowdy family restaurant that was showing an important local football game on the big screen television and also holding a “kids eat free” night. Talk about busy. “This place used to be a sports bar/restaurant,” he’d yelled in her ear over the din of the cheering men and the screaming hungry children. “Quiet, with people sipping their beers and enjoying whatever game was playing.” That night they hadn’t even been able to talk, let alone allow Lily the opportunity to figure out what made Timothy Killian tick. Tonight, though, they had a chance to really talk. The restaurant Tim had chosen was quiet and dark, full of couples at tiny tables. Candles glowed at each table and along the walls, and the wait staff moved so effortlessly around the room she hardly noticed them. She figured it was a good sign he kept asking her out, though he never tried anything. He hadn’t even held her hand, let alone kissed her. She’d discussed his behavior with her fairy roommates and they all said the same thing—the handsome doctor was an old fashioned gentleman. Lily didn’t want a gentleman. She wanted a man who would fall in love with her fast. She only had a little over two weeks left. “So tell me about yourself.” Lily smiled at Tim and smoothed the napkin in her lap. The date seemed to be going well, the appetizer and salad delicious so far. He looked so handsome, wearing black pants and a
21
Fairies & Wishes dark blue button up shirt that did wondrous things for his eyes. She had no idea if it was working, but she thought he might be falling for her. He kept looking at her with a certain expression on his face, his eyes soft, his beautiful mouth curved in a sexy smile. In fact, every time he flashed that smile, her heart fluttered in her chest and her head seemed to cloud up. She found him very distracting. “What do you want to know?” There went that smile again, and Lily gripped the napkin, twisting it in her hands. She really wanted to launch herself across the table and attack him, but she didn’t even know where to begin. Too new to this dating stuff, she felt like a complete novice, which of course, she was. “Well, why did you become a doctor?” “Because my father was a doctor.” His smile grew wistful. “It was what my dad always wanted, what I always wanted.” “I bet your father is very proud of you.” His smile disappeared, his expression growing somber. “My parents are dead. They died in a car accident seven years ago.” “Oh.” How careless of her. The fairy council told her that, and she completely forgot. The man distracted her so much he made her forget the important stuff. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to…” “It’s all right.” He shook his head. “It’s been a long time, but it still hurts a little. They died in December, right around this time. Makes the holidays tough.” “Do you have any brothers or sisters?” She already knew the answer, but she couldn’t tell him that. “No, just me. My parents tried for years to have a baby, were about to give up and start adoption proceedings when my mother became pregnant with me. I was their miracle child.” “I bet they loved you very much.” Lily didn’t mean to make him sad, but it was good to talk about the people he loved, remember everything they did for him, with him. He needed to remember those feelings in order to be open to new loving feelings. Like for her. Oh, goodness, she really hoped she was doing this right. “They were great parents, good people. I miss them.” He grabbed

Karen Erickson his water glass and drained it, just as their waiter showed up and set their plates in front of them with a flourish. She released her napkin and eagerly grabbed for her silverware. “It looks delicious.” “It is delicious. This is my favorite restaurant,” he said, his smile yet again making her forget about the wonderful dinner in front of her. Making her forget about everything but his beautiful smile and his warm eyes and the way he was looking at her tonight. They ate in companionable silence, occasionally commenting on the food, smiling at each other, all of it making Lily quiver with an unknown need deep inside. The whole night was just so intimate, so cozy. They left the restaurant and she realized she wanted more. She wanted to feel those big strong arms wrap around her pressing her close to him. She wanted to know what he felt like. She had a feeling he felt pretty good. The night air was cold, the wind off the ocean especially strong. It whipped around them as they stood in front of the closing restaurant, blowing her hair into her face. She pushed it away, smiling up at him. “Dinner was wonderful.” He shoved his hands deep in his pockets. “I’m glad you liked it.” “Well, thank you for everything. It was nice to actually be able to talk to you.” She wondered how she could get him to kiss her. Isn’t that how people fall in love? By kissing? That’s how they made it seem in the movies she’d seen. “Did you drive yourself here?” “No.” Lily shook her head, a little confused. “I walked.” He appeared incredulous. “You walked?” How could she tell him she conjured up a little fairy magic and transported herself to the restaurant with the snap of her fingers? She had a feeling that wouldn’t go over too well. So she shrugged and tried to play it off. “It wasn’t that big of a deal. My relatives live close by.” “Do you want me to drive you back to their house?” Oh, heavens no. She certainly couldn’t explain the strange little
23
Fairies & Wishes house they were staying at near the beach. The house that had been boarded up and left abandoned for years. With a little help it was easy for Lily and her three fairy roommates to clean up the house from the inside, making it sparkling and pretty for them to live in while it looked the same on the outside. No one was the wiser that they stayed there. “Could I come back to your place, maybe? It’s still early.” She smiled, realizing it wasn’t early at all. It was late, past ten o’clock, and if she was asking to go back to his place, she was probably asking for one thing. To be kissed. Now it all depended on his answer. His thick brows drew together, his blue eyes so dark, touching something deep inside her. “Yeah, you could come back to my place. If you want.” She knew then her opportunity to kiss him was about to happen. “Oh, I definitely want to.”

Chapter Four Tim glanced out the car window, watched the city lights pass by, and clutched his fingers tight on the steering wheel as he drove through the empty streets toward his house. Lily sat so close to him he could feel her body heat. Her long thick hair brushed against his shoulder when she moved and her scent surrounded him, made him dizzy. The urge to haul her into his arms and kiss her was so strong he did everything in his power to restrain himself. He didn’t want to scare her, let alone wreck the car. Hell, he was scaring himself. He’d been entranced with her face all through dinner. She was so animated when she spoke, and the sound of her voice was both arousing and soothing. He realized she’d talked a lot but said very little, didn’t reveal much about herself except that she was from across the country, and the relatives she stayed with were a little odd. He had no idea how old she was, what she did for a living, nothing. For all he knew, she could’ve been a bank robber on the run from the law and her abusive husband. He had no idea. She shifted and her hair brushed against his shoulder again, causing the semi‐erection he’d had all night to grow into a full‐fledged hard‐on. They bumped shoulders when he turned onto his street. He looked down to find her staring up at him, rosy lips parted, green eyes wide. “Sorry,” Lily whispered, her gaze dropping to his mouth. He pulled into his driveway, cut the engine, and watched her
25
Fairies & Wishes watch him. His heart pounding in his chest, he wondered if he should just go for it. “I want to kiss you,” she said out of nowhere. Her eyes lifted to gaze into his once more, her cheeks flushed. She lifted her hand, leaned across the center console, and traced her index finger along his lower lip. “Your lips are so soft…” With a groan, Tim leaned over and brushed his mouth against hers, felt her sharp intake of breath. He wanted to go slow, didn’t want to rush her, but her mouth opened eagerly beneath his and she clutched at his jacket. He traced the delicate skin of her inner lips with his tongue, and she pulled away from him with a loud gasp. “Why—why did you do that?” Her voice trembled, and she pressed the tips of her fingers to her lips. “I’m sorry, Lily. I don’t mean to rush you.” He felt like a complete heel. He should’ve let her take the lead, since she was the one who wanted to kiss him in the first place. “I’ve never been kissed like that before,” she said with wonder, fingers still pressed to her mouth. What did she mean by that? Surely she’d been kissed before. At least he hoped. Her other hand still clutched at the front of his jacket, and she shifted, bringing her body closer to his. Amazing, he thought, considering the cramped quarters of his sports car. “I want you to kiss me again.” He started to protest, but she shushed him with a single finger pressed against his lips. “Please?” Okay, she didn’t have to beg. Their lips met and this time he took it slower, brushing her mouth again and again with his own until he heard a tiny sound of frustration come from her. Her lips opened beneath his, and his tongue tentatively slipped between them. “Mmm,” she murmured, her mouth opening even wider, her shy tongue brushing against his. Her fingers fumbled with the zipper on his leather jacket, and then she lowered it, hands diving inside to press against his chest. Tim slid his hands into her hair, cupping her head, drinking from
26
Karen Erickson her lips. She tasted sinfully sweet, her tongue twining with his, hands greedily sliding up and down his chest. She seemed to want to get closer to him, her lower body shifting restlessly as she moved in her seat. He grabbed the lever at his side and slid his seat back, then cupped her shoulders and hauled her onto his lap, his mouth never leaving hers. A coo of delight escaped from her lips, and she pressed her chest against his, her breasts soft and tempting, her hands moving to wrap around his neck, clutching at him as if she couldn’t get enough. Little moans escaped from her throat, and she thrust her pelvis against his. “Goodness, you’re a wonderful kisser,” she murmured against his mouth. He chuckled, skimmed fingers across her cheeks. “Thanks. You’re not so bad yourself.” “I don’t want you to stop.” She pressed another lingering kiss to his lips and sighed. “I want you to keep doing it.” “Lily, we’re in my car in the driveway in front of my house. I can think of somewhere a lot more comfortable to make out. Like inside the house, on the couch.” His couch would be a hell of a lot more comfortable than the front seat of his too small car. She smiled, then her little pink tongue darted out to lick at the corners of his lips. “I don’t care where we are as long as you keep on kissing me.” Well, hell, he couldn’t resist that. He pressed his open mouth to hers, their tongues sliding lazily against each other’s, hands roaming. If he allowed himself, he soon wouldn’t care where they were either, as long as they were still lip locked. Lily had no idea kissing could feel so good. His lips were so soft, his tongue like velvet. Her breasts ached, her nipples tightened, and between her thighs she throbbed. She grew damper and damper with each passing kiss. She didn’t know what to do about it, didn’t understand why it was happening. Images flashed in her mind of Tim touching her there, stroking between her legs, and she shivered. He must’ve felt her move, because he tilted his head away from hers and gazed down at her. “Ready to go inside? We can...continue this.”
27
Fairies & Wishes She nodded. She definitely wanted to continue. If she had her choice, she’d kiss him straight through Christmas. “Yes, I would love to go inside.” Tim smiled and the sight of it took her breath away. It also caused the dampness between her legs to grow. “I’m not going to push you into anything that would make you uncomfortable. Just say the word, and we’ll stop.” “I don’t want you to stop,” Lily murmured against his lips, nuzzling her face against his. She heard him breathe deep and felt something hard move against her thigh. She wondered what it was. “If you’re trying to drive me crazy, you’re succeeding,” he said, his hands moving until they were just under her breasts. “Oooh, that feels good.” He brushed against the bottom of her breasts, and she gasped, thrusting her chest into his hands. “Sssh,” he whispered against her mouth, his fingers sliding up to cup her breasts, thumbs brushing against her nipples. “Don’t stop doing that,” she said, wishing he would slip his hands underneath her sweater and touch her bare flesh. “Lily…” “Please.” She was begging, but she didn’t care. She would die if he stopped touching her there. Her nipples were so hard, his thumbs moving in tight circles around them. A strange feeling started in her belly, making her restless. “Okay, I need to stop before we have each other naked in the car like teenagers.” His hands dropped to his sides, and she felt bereft without them on her. She knew he was right. They were in his driveway. It would probably be a lot more fun in his house. And a lot less public. With a sigh, Lily climbed off of Tim’s lap, and he opened the car door. “I’m sorry.” “Hey.” They both climbed out of the car but he stopped her, tipped her chin up with gentle fingers, and gazed deep into her eyes. “No need to apologize. I forgot myself in there, too.” Her cheeks warmed, and she smiled at him. “Will you touch me
28
Karen Erickson like that again when we go inside?” He groaned. Wrapping his arm around her shoulders, he lead her toward the front door. “Lily, we can do that and more, if you want.” She rested her head on his chest as they walked. “There’s more?” * * * * * Lily Fairington was by far the most complicated, confusing woman he’d ever met. Tim poured them each a glass of wine, going over yet again what happened in the driveway. She’d been all over him like a crazed woman, yet made remarks like she’d never experienced anything sexual before in her life, not even kissing. She’d been so responsive, though, not shy about anything… He shook his head and pushed the cork back into the bottle. He didn’t get it. He didn’t get her. But he liked her. He found her sexy, sweet, intriguing…and he wanted to get to know her better. A lot better. He couldn’t remember the last time he felt this way about a woman. She entered the kitchen, a small smile playing upon her rosy lips. Her green eyes shined, her red hair gleamed in the soft light, and he thought he’d never seen a prettier sight. “Your house is lovely.” She glanced about his recently renovated kitchen, running her hand along the smooth expanse of countertop. “It looks very expensive.” “It was my parents’ house. I kept it after they passed, and I’ve been remodeling it.” The very house he grew up in, often times too full of painful memories of the past. He didn’t want to get rid of it, though. His conscience wouldn’t let him. Remodeling seemed like the perfect solution. “You remodeled it yourself?” Tim shrugged. “Most of it, yeah, I did. It’s taken me a few years, but I’m almost finished.” “You’ve done a wonderful job.” She glanced at his hands, a dreamy expression on her face before her eyes lifted to meet his. “You’re very talented.” “I like to keep myself busy.”
29
Fairies & Wishes Lily leaned against the kitchen counter. “I’m surprised a man like you doesn’t have a wife...or at least a girlfriend.” He nearly choked on his mouthful of wine. He held out a glass to her, but she shook her head no. He set it on the counter. “I don’t have much time,” he said after he swallowed. She nodded, glanced about the kitchen. The women he brought home—and there weren’t many—always got a predatory gleam in their eyes when they checked out his house. He figured they were assessing it, imagining it theirs, the money signs practically showing on their faces. Lily was different. She looked around with admiration, her eyes wide with wonder. She almost reminded him of a child with the innocent flash of her smile, the telltale blush to her cheeks when they first entered the house. Nothing childlike about her body, though. Or the way she looked at him. He swallowed hard, mesmerized by the sashay of her hips as she walked toward him. She wore yet another skirt. In fact, he hadn’t seen her in anything but. This one was dark brown, the fabric shiny, satiny looking. He bet it would feel good against his fingers, would slide easily up her legs if he tried. Tim wondered if she would let him try. “You’re a fascinating man, Dr. Killian,” Lily murmured, reaching up to flit her fingers over his jaw. Her touch, though tentative, sent a jolt straight to his groin. He gazed at her, detecting the faint glitter in her green eyes, the sweet rosy lushness of her mouth. She looked beautiful, aroused, and hungry… Her fingers skittered across his jaw line to his chin, then to his mouth. “There’s nothing special about me,” he finally said. Lily shook her head, the tip of her index finger running along his lower lip, so slow, catching on his skin. He wanted to draw the slim finger between his lips, suck on it until she moaned, but he held back. “You’ve made me feel things I’ve never experienced before,” she murmured, eyes so large, blinking up at him as her finger traced his upper lip. “I had no idea humans could feel this way.”
30
Karen Erickson His brows furrowed. What did she mean by that? He wrapped his fingers around her wrist, stopping her from touching him. “Lily, can I ask you a personal question? “I guess so.” He paused for a moment and then decided to just go for it. “Are you a virgin?” It was her brow’s turn to wrinkle. “A virgin? What do you mean a…” She paused, pressed her lips together, and then sighed. “I’m not sure.” Lily wasn’t exactly sure what the definition of a virgin was. Yes, she’d been kissed. By him. Yes, she’d been touched. By him. Did that mean she wasn’t a virgin anymore? She knew more was involved sexually, but she wasn’t quite sure what. If it all made her feel like she had in his car, then she definitely wanted to find out. “What do you mean, you’re not sure?” His rich voice snapped her from her thoughts, and she met his gaze, his dark blue eyes cloudy with confusion. He still held her wrist, their joined hands hanging between them. His thumb brushed against the delicate skin inside her wrist once, then again. As if he couldn’t resist touching her. Couldn’t resist making a connection. She wanted to connect to him, too. But she was afraid he might be angry by her lack of knowledge. If not angry, then at least a little disappointed. She decided she needed to distract him. “Kiss me.” “Huh?” Oh, now he really looked confused, and more than a little annoyed. Even his mouth had dropped open at her statement, and she viewed that as her opportunity to catch him unaware. Just a few steps and her body brushed against his. She could feel the warm solid maleness of him, and she slid her free hand up his chest. “I want you to kiss me, Tim, like you kissed me in the driveway.” It worked. The virgin question forgotten, he bent his dark head and then his lips were against hers, so soft, a little damp, a lot hot. She groaned at the sensation, opened her mouth to taste him, and then groaned again. No wonder the mortals went on and on about this stuff. It all felt so
31
Fairies & Wishes wonderful... He licked at the inside of her mouth, and she teased him. Then she sucked his tongue between her lips. This caused him to moan, and his hand moved to clutch hers, the other arm sliding around her waist and hauling her against him. Something long and hard nudged against her belly, and she drew in a sharp breath, wondering at it. Wondering even more at the wetness that gathered between her thighs when she felt it rub against her. Fingers entwined, she lifted their connected hands between them, rested their hands against his chest. He disentangled them to cup her face, fingers lightly caressing as his mouth continued to plunder hers. She didn’t want the kiss to end, didn’t want it to ever stop, and she opened her mouth wider, her tongue frantically playing with his. “Lily.” He broke away first, his voice a husky whisper that sent shivers up and down her spine. “We should stop.” “I don’t want to.” She ran her hands over his broad chest, marveling at the hardness beneath her fingertips, reveling in the difference between a man and a woman. She yearned to know what he looked like without a shirt on, to see the dips and plains of his muscular physique, to feel the texture of his skin. At the center of his chest, she slipped one button out of its hole, then another. “Lily.” His voice was low, like a warning, but sensual, making her grow even wetter down there. He brought his hand back up to grasp her wrist, but she shook him off. He wouldn’t stop her from doing what she wanted. She wouldn’t allow it. And it was all going to be good for him anyway. After all, this was a part of the teaching him how to love plan, wasn’t it? Her breath hitched in her throat when she saw what each undone button revealed. Darkened skin, flat brown nipples with dark hair curling in between them. She continued to unbutton his shirt, her attention never leaving his chest. The dark hair narrowed into a trail that shot straight down his flat stomach, feathering around his belly button until it disappeared beneath his waistband. She untucked his shirt from his pants with one quick yank, revealing him to her.
32
Karen Erickson “You’re beautiful,” she whispered, and she looked up to meet his darkened gaze. “May I touch you?” Tim closed his eyes, flexed his jaw, as if it took everything he had to control himself. She wanted to smile but held back. His eyes stayed closed, but he nodded his approval. She touched him, grazing his skin with only her fingertips. Gooseflesh rose at the contact, and she smiled then tunneled her fingers in his chest hair. Her index finger rubbed first one nipple, then the other, the both of them rising beneath her fingertip, and a burning began somewhere deep inside her belly. She didn’t understand why, but she had the urge to lick them, pull them into her mouth and suck them. So she did. She dipped her head and lapped at his nipple, causing him to jump. His hands went to her head, buried in her hair, and she drew the distended nipple into her mouth, sucking him. “Jesus, Lily. Let’s at least take this to my bedroom before we get too carried away.” She moved away from him, licking her lips nervously, her gaze meeting his. His hands were still in her hair, his fingers massaging her scalp, and she closed her eyes in ecstasy, overcome by the sensation. “You...you didn’t like it?” She opened her eyes to see Tim shake his head with a pained expression on his face. “I liked it too much. Before we take this any further, I say we go to my bedroom. Unless you don’t want to. If that’s the case, I understand.” Excitement welled up inside her so high it felt like a million tiny bubbles were bursting in her throat. There had to be more, so much more involved, and she wanted to experience it all tonight, with him. The good doctor the fairy council said didn’t know how to love. If this was love, then he was certainly doing a good job showing her all about it. And they hadn’t even gotten to the fun stuff yet. She could hardly wait.

Fairies & Wishes
Chapter Five Lily gazed about Tim’s room eagerly, taking in the masculine décor. The warm khaki walls, the brown leather chair and ottoman in the corner, the giant bed that practically ate up the entire room. The dark brown comforter appeared soft and voluminous, the array of pillows large and fluffy. All of it alluring, inviting, making her want to jump into bed and snuggle close to him. She yearned to feel his body pressed close to hers, wanted to know what it would be like to have him hold her naked, limbs entwined. She shivered at the image in her mind, turning to find Tim watching her as he shrugged out of his shirt. She couldn’t help it—her mouth dropped open at the sight of his bared flesh, the dim lamp bathing his dark skin in golden light. His eyes met hers, his gaze hungry, searching. She walked toward him, arms reaching, resting her hands on the waistband of his jeans when she stopped in front of him. “Will you touch my breasts again, like you did in the car?” His hands were immediately at her chest, stroking her. “You like that?” Lily nodded, licking her lips. She heard Tim moan, and she glanced up to meet his heavy‐lidded gaze. He brushed his thumbs over her nipples and, even through her bra and sweater, the touch sent heat straight to her core, making her weak with wanting him. She gripped harder at his waistband, closing her eyes. His hands slid down to the bottom of her sweater and tugged.
34
Karen Erickson She released her hold on him and held up her arms, silent while he pulled her sweater over her head and tossed it to the floor. He inhaled sharply, hands cupping her bra‐covered breasts, and she sighed, a tiny smile growing on her face. “Pink again,” he murmured, fingers tracing the lacy patterns of her hot pink bra. “It’s my...favorite color.” She opened her eyes and glanced down at herself, watching his big hands smooth over her breasts. Felt yet another flair of heated moisture between her thighs at the sight. “It’s starting to become my favorite color, too,” he said, his voice husky. “Are we going to get naked?” Oh, she couldn’t help it; she had to ask. She was downright eager to have his hands all over her naked skin. She couldn’t wait to have her hands all over him either. “Do you want to get naked?” “Oh, yes.” She smiled, reaching behind her to undo the bra clasp. The lacy object fell forward, and he removed his hands from her so she could shrug out of it. “Lily…” She dropped the bra to the floor and thrust her chest forward, wanting him to like what he saw. She had a sudden flash of self‐ consciousness, wishing she had more curves, fuller breasts. She’d watched enough television and movies, read enough magazines every holiday season she became mortal, to know what men seemed to prefer. Her slight figure and smallish breasts weren’t really it. “Am I being too forward? I’m just anxious, I’m sorry.” “No.” Tim shook his head, his hands cupping her bare breasts, holding them, testing their weight. “Your eagerness is...sexy.” Triumph surged through her, and she swayed on her feet, while his thumbs playing with her nipples. “I know my breasts are kind of small, and I’m not very shapely…” A warm finger pressed against her lips, silencing her. “You’re beautiful, Lily. And your breasts are perfect.” Her head lolled on her neck and her eyes closed again. Lost to the
35
Fairies & Wishes sensations of his hands on her breasts, thumbs and index fingers lightly pinching them into stiff points, she’d never felt anything better than his hands on her bare skin, his mouth pressed against hers. She couldn’t believe she was doing this, didn’t know fairies could experience these feelings, but here she was, lost to it all. Funny how his pinching fingers felt so good, caused her breasts to grow heavier, caused the heat between her legs to flame, the moisture to gather. “Oh!” Warm wet heat enveloped her nipple, and she opened her eyes, watching in amazement as his dark head bent in front of her, mouth sucking her nipple, hands sliding down to grasp at her waist. She buried her hands in his thick hair, clutching him to her. “I...I feel like I’m going to fall down.” His mouth tore away from her breast and he hauled her into his arms, holding her against him. She looped her arms around his neck, and his mouth took hers, so hungry, so wet and warm and delicious. He walked toward the bed, his arms tightening before he released her. Lily’s body slid down his, their bare chests pressed against each other. She brushed her breasts back and forth against his hair‐roughened chest, her nipples scraping across his hot flesh. “I assume we’re still getting naked?” He reached around her, his fingers at the zipper of her skirt, waiting for her answer. Lily nodded, ready for him to strip her of her clothing. She felt the zipper slide down, felt his warm fingers on her bottom, and she squirmed, anxious. “Did I hurt you? Are you still sore?” His hands gentled on her skin, resting on her butt, her loosened skirt still clinging to her hips. “No, the bruises are gone.” She took care of those the very night of her appointment, having her fellow fairy roommates concoct a spell to rid her of the ugly bruises and searing pain. Why she waited an entire night and day to do that she didn’t know, but it helped lead her back to the sexy doctor, so she couldn’t regret it. “The bruises are gone?” Tim sounded incredulous, he whirled her around, and her skirt dropped to her feet. She heard him moan, felt his hands cover her hot pink lace‐covered buttocks, and she gasped at his
36
Karen Erickson touch. “They are gone. That was fast.” He sounded more than a little surprised. Always the doctor, even in the middle of lovemaking, Lily mused. What, exactly, had her roommates told her to say if he asked? Like they thought she would be baring herself to him in the heat of passion? Well…no. But they did give her a few good suggestions on how to explain the bruises disappearing so fast. “I’m a quick healer.” “I’ll say.” His fingers played with the thin waistband of her lace panties, tugging them down a bit. “Hate to see such beautiful skin marred in any way.” She looked at him over her shoulder, her belly tightening and he pulled down her panties, following them down until he was on his knees. She stepped out of them, watching his hands slide up and down her legs, his hands going further up her thighs with every pass. He touched her, a musky scent filling the air, and between her legs she grew so slick she was afraid the moisture would slide down her thighs. She stared straight ahead and reached out to grasp the tall bedpost in front of her for support, too embarrassed to face him after realizing the strange scent came from her. “Spread your legs,” Tim commanded, his voice husky. She did so, mortified at the dampness down there. Was it normal? Did all mortals grow wet between their legs when aroused? She certainly assumed she was aroused. Or could it be some sort of fairy defect left over from the human transformation? He cupped her sex from behind, then he ran his hand back and up over her buttocks. She sighed, wishing he would touch her there again. As if he could read her mind, he did, his fingers sliding between her wet folds. She gasped and clenched the bedpost tight. “You’re dripping wet.” His hands gripped her buttocks, spreading them to reveal her to him. Something she had never shown another mortal, and certainly never another fairy. For whatever reason, she had the sudden urge to grind against him, to rub her wet self against his face. Wanted to feel his fingers plunge inside of her, tease her, before he licked at her with his tongue…
37
Fairies & Wishes “Turn around, Lily.” His voice was soft, sexy, sliding over her like satin sheets against bare skin. She did so without hesitation, keeping her legs spread, and he remained on his knees, his gaze level with her crotch. He reached out, his fingers tangling in the thatch of curls that grew between her legs, and she nearly collapsed at the gentle contact. “I’ve never seen hair the color of yours,” he whispered. “Do you want to lie back on the bed, Lily?” No answer was needed; she lay down on the bed behind her, closing her eyes, and he followed her, his big body covering hers. He felt delicious pressed against her, his naked legs tangling with hers. He’d stripped himself of his clothing without her even seeing, and she wondered at the hot, hard, lengthy object probing at her belly. Could that be his… Oh, goodness, she really didn’t have a clue, did she? Tim dipped his head and pressed wet kisses to her breasts, his mouth hot, blazing a trail of fiery sensation that spread all over her body. He drew her nipple into his mouth, sucking hard, and her eyes rolled back in her head. She was amazed at how it all made her feel. As if she were floating. Floating on the highest, fluffiest cloud, her body weightless and out of her control. Oh, goodness, she didn’t want him to stop, didn’t want him to ever stop… A sensation grew in her belly as he continued to suckle and lick at her breasts, moving from one to the other. He snuck his hand down to tease at her wet folds. She moved against him, the sensation growing, spreading through her body, and she bucked against him. Striving toward something unknown, she clutched at his head, tugged on his thick hair, and he nibbled gently on her nipple, making her gasp. His fingers grew more insistent between her legs, his thumb pressing against a hidden nub of flesh. She stilled for a moment, the sensation washing over her, making her entire body tremble and shake. “Ooooh,” she cried as wave after wave of exquisite feeling washed over her, while Tim’s thumb still pressed against the tiny nub, his mouth still sucking on her nipple. She shook her head back and forth, little pants and coos emanating from her open mouth.

Karen Erickson He glanced up at her once her trembling finished, a smug smile on his face. “I’ve never seen someone come so fast before.” Come? Come where? Is that what the mortals called what just happened to her? Such a simple word for something so wondrous, really. It deserved to be called something far grander. “That was wonderful,” she said once she found her voice. Tim moved up her body, hovering above her, and she glanced down, her eyes widening in amazement. His penis stood out from his body, long and hard and nearly touching her stomach. Now it all began to make sense. Everything she’d ever learned in her two hundred plus years of fairy existence all came together. He was going to stick his giant, beautiful, penis inside of her and...then what? Would she come again? Would he come again? Oh, she certainly hoped so. Lily reached down and brushed her fingers against the top of his penis, watching it bob and sway when she did so. She heard his sharp intake of breath, and she glanced up to see his eyes closed, his lips tight. “Does it hurt when I touch it?” He shook his head and opened his glazed eyes. “It hurts when you don’t touch it.” She smiled and circled the tip of it with her fingers, then slid her hand down to grasp it. Tim groaned, and she slid her hand down its length, amazed at its size. How did it get inside of her? Where exactly did it go? And once inside, what happened next? She had a lot to learn. “Just like that,” he murmured, while she slid her hand up and down, his hips thrusting toward her. She continued her ministrations, stroking his velvety hard length. He kissed her, his mouth open, his tongue wild and thrusting. She met him thrust for thrust, her hand moving in time with their sparring tongues. Then he yanked away from her, his chest heaving with his labored breaths. “What’s wrong?” She touched his face, noticed the sweat on his forehead. He shook his head, swallowing hard. “I want to be inside you, Lily.”
39
Fairies & Wishes She arched her body, felt his penis brush against her wet curls, and she ached with wanting him. “Then get inside me.” It was all the invitation he needed. He reached across her to his nightstand, yanked a foiled package out of the drawer, and ripped it open, sheathing himself with a thin rubbery looking thing that fit his penis snugly. Then he positioned himself above her, spreading her legs wide. The head of his penis nudged at her folds, and she stiffened, worried about how it would feel. He was huge. Wouldn’t it hurt? It would have to hurt. Her entire body tensed in anticipation. “Relax, angel,” he whispered, brushing his penis back and forth against her folds. “You’re too tense.” She tried to, really she did. He kissed her, his mouth so sweet, so hot as it fused with hers, and she lost herself in the kiss, her hands roaming over his broad shoulders, her legs spreading even more. And then he was sliding inside, further and further until… “Ow!” Lily yelled after she ripped her mouth from his, her eyes flying open. Oh, goodness, he was inside of her, all the way inside, and she could feel him, so hard, so hot, throbbing in there. She’d never felt anything like it before. “Are you okay?” He didn’t move, stayed completely still, the throbbing of his penis inside of her the only movement. She shifted beneath him, and he slid even deeper. Lily winced, hoping it would feel better soon. It had to feel better soon, didn’t it? She hoped so. He moved, pulled himself out of her slowly. She slipped her hands down to his firm buttocks, trying to stop him. “Don’t leave,” she pleaded, her hands kneading his warm muscular flesh. He shook his head, and she swore she felt a drop of sweat from his forehead fall onto her face. She didn’t care. “I’m not going anywhere,” he said then thrust back inside her. Oh, yes. He moved within her, establishing a rhythm, and she wrapped her legs around his waist, anchoring herself to him. She ground her hips against his, the same sensation beginning to take over her body again, and he increased his pace with a groan. Her legs tightened around
40
Karen Erickson him. He plunged deeper, harder, faster until he stilled, a long moan coming from somewhere deep inside him. His body slumped against her, falling onto her in a heap, and she lay there beneath him, her heart beating a million miles a minute. Disappointment washed over her. She definitely didn’t come this time. Did he? “I’m sorry, Lily,” he whispered against her ear, then kissed it. “It’s been so long, and I got carried away…” “Did you come?” Tim chuckled and slid out of her body, moving so he lay beside her. He slipped his arm across her stomach. “Yes, I did. You didn’t, did you?” She shook her head and pressed her cheek against his chest. His heart beat fast too, almost as fast as hers, though she could feel it starting to slow. “No, but that’s okay.” He kissed her forehead, his lips lingering, tender. “Give me a minute, and I’ll do something about that.” “You’ll make that happen again?” Oh, goody! “I should’ve made it happen just now, but I came too fast. Next time it’ll be better. I promise.” His hands were at her breasts, stroking her, and she closed her eyes, wondered if he was in love with her yet. If what she was feeling wasn’t love, then she didn’t know how it could get any better.

Fairies & Wishes
Chapter Six “Who’s the girl?” Tim glanced up to meet the amused gaze of his best friend’s wife Kara. “What are you talking about?” “You, sitting at my kitchen table with a moony expression on your face. I’ve been talking to you for the last ten minutes, and I don’t think you heard one word I said. So who’s the girl?” Kara waved at him with a wooden spoon before returning it to the pot on the stove. “What if I told you there was no girl?” “I’d say you’re a liar. Come on, Doctor, spill.” She turned around to face him, resting her hands on her slim hips. He sighed, caving so easily. What a sucker. “Her name is Lily. We’ve been dating for almost three weeks.” And he was already half in love with her, but he’d never let Kara know that. She’d run and tell Hayden in ten seconds flat. Then Tim would never hear the end of it. “Oh? Interesting. How did you meet her?” “I ran into her one night while I was leaving work.” Well, it was the truth. “Uh, huh. So is it pretty serious?” Kara turned back around to stir her sauce again. He wondered if something could be stirred too much. “I honestly don’t know.” She whirled back around, eyes gleaming with curiosity. “What do you mean by you don’t know? When was the last time you went out with a woman on more than two consecutive dates? Since I’ve been with
42
Karen Erickson Hayden, I’ve never heard of you going out on one date. Ever.” “Just because you haven’t heard it doesn’t mean it’s not happening. And where the hell is Hayden anyway?” Tim rubbed the back of his neck, nervous at Kara’s questioning. He knew she was right; it had been forever since he’d been out on a date, let alone a string of dates with one woman. He liked Lily a lot—liked everything about her, except for one small thing. She never revealed anything personal about herself. He had no idea where she grew up, where she went to school, how many siblings she had, if she even had any, nothing. He didn’t even know how old she was. If he was going to get more serious with the woman, he had to find out a few key facts. Like where the hell she was from, who the hell her relatives were, and what she did for a living. It wasn’t as if he was asking for the moon. He just wanted to know more about her. “Hayden will be back from the store any minute. I needed garlic bread to go with dinner, so I made him go pick some up.” She set the wooden spoon on a spoon rest and sat down across from him at the table. “So when can we meet your Lily?” Tim shrugged, noticing the little thrill he got at hearing Lily referred to as his. “I don’t know. We’re spending Christmas together.” He paused to watch Kara wiggle her eyebrows, and he sighed. “She mentioned she might have to go home after the holidays since she’s here visiting relatives, but we haven’t talked about much beyond that.” “Hmmm.” Kara always made those types of noises that made Tim get more and more nervous. Usually the more he talked, the more doubtful she sounded. He didn’t know how Hayden coped with it day after day. The door leading from the garage opened and Hayden entered, a grocery bag filled to the top in his arms. “Hey.” Hayden set the bag on the counter, and Kara went into his arms easily, their sweet kiss sending a ping straight to Tim’s heart. He never realized it before, but he wanted what his friends had. A loving marriage. Someone to come home to every night. After losing his parents and consuming himself with his work, he hadn’t allowed himself to think about anything but being a doctor, taking care of his patients. Once he met
43
Fairies & Wishes Lily, though, she made him want more. A true relationship, a woman he could see spending the rest of his life with. He almost had that with Lily. If only she would open up to him. “What did you buy at the store, honey? I only asked for garlic bread.” Kara peeked inside the bag, but Hayden swiped it away from her. “Nothing you need to know about, sweetheart. How’s dinner coming?” Hayden pulled the bread out of the bag and handed it to her. “Perfect. Everything will be ready soon.” She took the foil bag and placed it into the already heated oven, then set the timer. “Tim and I have enough time to chat for a little bit? Have a little man talk?” Hayden stashed the bag in a corner on the countertop and grinned at him. Tim almost sighed with relief. He didn’t think he could take any more of Kara’s interrogation. Hayden went to the fridge and pulled out two bottles of beer. He handed one of them to Tim. Kara rolled her eyes. “Of course. Go talk about sports and women and whatever else you men need to discuss.” Tim followed Hayden through the sliding glass door in the living room out onto the back patio. “Hope she doesn’t look in that bag. I found her something for Christmas at the grocery store of all places. Is my wife giving you shit?” “Naw.” Tim shook his head. “Kara was just drilling me about my dating prospects, nothing new about that.” “Sorry.” Hayden swigged from his beer bottle. “Now that we’re married, she’s dying to hook up all of our single friends, make sure they’re happy.” “It’s all right.” Tim paused, figuring he should tell his friend about Lily. He knew Kara would do it anyway, may as well come straight from the horse’s mouth. “I am seeing someone.” “Really? That’s great, bro.” “Yeah, she is pretty great. But I know nothing about her.” And he really didn’t like that. It had been eating at him for days. “What do you need to know? Sounds like the perfect woman to me. Usually they want to spill all of their crap on the first date. At least, that
44
Karen Erickson had been my experience until Kara.” “Yeah, I know you’re right, but this woman is special. I just feel so good when I’m with her, and I want to know all about her crap, or whatever you want to call it. The good, the bad, and the ugly. But she won’t tell me anything.” “Have you asked?” “Well, yeah, in a roundabout way. She talks a lot, but she doesn’t really say...anything.” “Bro, she’ll spill when she’s ready. It’s not like you to worry so much about a chick. Just go with the flow. It’ll all happen when it’s supposed to.” Tim knew Hayden was right. They never had conversations like this, always keeping it light and easy, especially when they talked about women. It wasn’t like him to be so worried about a secretive woman, either. He normally freaked out when a woman shared too much information too fast. The women he had dated through the years he’d preferred to keep at a distance. Never let them get too close—his personal motto. Now he was dying to get close to a woman, and she kept him at arm’s length. He figured he probably deserved treatment like this. This was karma or something. Tomorrow was Christmas Eve. Lily had planned to come over in the morning while he wrapped up a few last minute things at the office, and then they were going to spend the next two days together alone. Maybe that would be his chance to learn more about her. * * * * * Lily smiled with satisfaction and clasped her hands together at the sight in front of her. She’d been meaning to do this since she met her handsome doctor, but had never gotten around to it because he was so distracting. Hmm, actually it was because she was rarely out of bed when she spent time with the good doctor. Hard to get around and run errands when she was so busy making love. He had given her the spare key to his house—a monumental step
45
Fairies & Wishes she was sure—so she could meet him there once he finished at work. Knowing that he left early in the morning, she went right to his house and sprinkled a little fairy dust around, hoping that she had just the right mixture. She certainly didn’t want to go overboard. Considering Tim, it was baby steps all the way. She knew he would love it though. Her sprinkle of fairy dust had conjured up a beautifully decorated house, more than ready for Christmas. Subtle enough to appeal to Tim’s wary nature, yet the rooms were warm and inviting and Christmassy. Red tapered candles glowed in silver candlesticks on the mantle, a festive red beribboned wreath hung above the fireplace. Boughs of pine circled down the stair banister and a simple, elegantly decorated tree glowed in the front windows, covered in glittering ornaments and tiny white lights. Lily clapped her hands, so pleased with herself she was afraid her face would split in two from her giant smile. Now this was right up her alley. All of the love stuff was confusing. Wonderful, but confusing. The Christmas spirit, though; she was all about the spirit. She hoped she could incorporate love and Christmas all in one. They’d always gone hand‐in‐ hand before. The type of love experienced with Tim, though, was on a completely different level. It made her giddy, excited, passionate, crazy. She felt warm and fuzzy one minute, confused and nervous the next. Such a roller coaster ride of emotions, such ups and downs, no wonder the mortals suffered so much for love. Love was complicated stuff. Yet so wonderful she wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. Lily frowned and sank onto the couch, her red satin skirt spreading around her legs. She’d dressed with extra care this morning, always having to wear a red item of some sort, though her soft angora cardigan was black with twinkling jet‐black rhinestone buttons. She glanced down at her sweater, smiling at the whimsical buttons, but sadness filled her. She only had two days left. Two more days with Tim, and then she was gone. Back up into the clouds until the next holiday season came around. No one on the council had told her it would be so tough leaving her doctor. She could barely think about leaving Tim, or else she might start to
46
Karen Erickson cry. Not even sure she had accomplished her teaching him how to love goal, she was almost afraid to know. What if he had fallen in love with her? What would happen to him once she left? He’d be miserable, she was sure. His receptionist had admitted to her yesterday that she’d never seen him happier, never seen him smile so much in all the years she’d worked for him. And Angie had been with Tim for many years. Lily knew she was the reason behind his happiness, but did it make her feel good? Did she do the right thing in getting him to fall in love with her? She didn’t think so. Yet, Lily admitted to her selfishness. She wasn’t about to deprive herself of her last two days with him. Oh, no. Once he got a good look at the decorations when he arrived home, she planned on pulling him down onto the floor and having her way with him in front of the Christmas tree. Getting naked with the sexiest man she’d ever met in the glow of hundreds of sparkling white lights? That sounded like heaven. The front door opened and Lily hopped to her feet, anxious for his response to all of her hard work. She hoped he liked it. She hoped he wouldn’t be angry for taking so much liberty around his house… “Hey, where’d you find this wreath hanging on the door? I like it.” Tim stopped short in the doorway of the living room, his eyes going wide at everything spread out before him. “Angel, what did you do?” She wrung her hands together. “You don’t like it?” Maybe she should’ve only put up the tree. That would’ve been a lot simpler. He gazed about the room, a small smile curving his beautiful, wonderful mouth. “I—I’m just in shock that you decorated it so much. How did you do it? How much time did it take you? Did you sprinkle pixie dust, snap your fingers, and make it happen?” Goodness, she wondered how he came so close to the truth. It scared her, but there was no way he really knew she was a fairy. No mortals she’d ever encountered in all of her years believed in fairies. Thankfully they’ve never been found out. “I’ve been very busy this morning, but you don’t like it, do you? I’ll take everything down, I’m sorry.” She should’ve thought of this before she went so crazy decorating.
47
Fairies & Wishes Now she had to take everything down the hard way. It would take her hours. If he weren’t home it would take two seconds and the snap of her fingers. He grabbed her by the shoulders, stopping her from heading toward the fireplace. “I love it. It means a lot to me that you went to so much trouble.” His eyes met hers, and Lily melted. She could stare into his lovely blue eyes all day long and never grow tired. She’d never grow tired of looking at his handsome face, either. Timothy Killian was, simply put, simply perfect. “You really like everything?” She smiled with hope, resting her hands on his chest, filled with the sudden urge to unbutton his shirt. She appreciated the fact he seemed to always wear button up shirts. Unbuttoning them heightened her anticipation. “I really like it. The tree is beautiful.” He dipped his head and kissed her, his lips clinging to hers, and she pressed herself against him, her brain turning to mush when she felt his hands slide over her satin covered derriere. Those large, capable hands could do things to her that made her feel so good she wanted to come apart. Again and again and again. She brushed her hips against his, felt his already hard penis pressing against the fly of his jeans, and she smiled. “Wanna do it under the tree?” He started walking her toward the glittering tree, his hands sliding beneath the waistband of her skirt to play with her lacy panties. “I thought you’d never ask.”

Chapter Seven “This has been the best Christmas I’ve ever had.” Tim pressed a kiss to Lily’s forehead, and she snuggled closer to him, her long legs tangling with his beneath the soft sheets. “We’ve barely left your bed, how could this qualify as your best Christmas ever?” He smiled, nuzzling her hair with his face. Spending time with Lily put all of his fond childhood Christmas memories to shame. “That’s what makes it the best, because we never really have left this bed.” She laughed, tangling her fingers in the hair on his chest. “I didn’t even get you a gift. I still feel bad about that.” “You’re my gift,” he whispered against her hair, half hoping she didn’t hear him. He remembered the expression on her face when he presented her with the tiny wrapped box after they woke up this morning, the utter dismay in her eyes when she admitted she didn’t get anything for him. He really didn’t care about having a present to open. Lily was more than enough of a gift to him. And her dismayed expression quickly changed to joy when she saw the necklace nestled in the tiny box. A simple diamond teardrop pendant on a white gold chain. She’d pulled it out and begged him to put it around her neck immediately. Which he did, then stripped her naked and made love to her until his body grew sore and his heart ached. So full of love for her, he felt as if he would burst. But he couldn’t tell her that, he didn’t want to rush it. Hell, he’d only known her for three weeks, and he still didn’t know a single important fact about her. Lord knew he tried all yesterday afternoon and evening. They’d talked for hours, yet every time he tried to find out something about her past, she steered the conversation back to either him or some other safe, neutral topic. He’d never been more frustrated in his life. Frustrated and pissed at himself. How could he fall in love with a woman he didn’t really know? Yeah, yeah, she made him feel good, he enjoyed spending time with her, talking to her, making her smile, hearing
49
Fairies & Wishes her laugh, touching her, making love with her. Such an angelic face, yet so responsive in bed. Like a roaring little tiger. She screamed and sighed with pleasure every time they had sex. And every time they had sex, it was better than the last time. Deeper and more meaningful. Damn scary. “Should we get up and eat something?” she asked, her big green eyes blinking up at him. His stomach growled, but he didn’t want to leave the bed, didn’t want to leave her. He didn’t really want to admit it, but a sense of foreboding had come over him in the last few hours, something he couldn’t quite figure out or shake. Lily seemed a bit withdrawn, not her usual sweet, lively self. She’d made love enthusiastically as usual, but he could tell she was holding something back. Holding back more than normal. He didn’t like it, especially since he remembered her mentioning she would be leaving Santa Augustina the day after Christmas when they first began seeing each other. He realized she hadn’t mentioned it since. Tim wondered if she planned to disappear on him. He knew he’d go on; he always soldiered on. He had to. If he could live through the devastating accident that had taken his beloved parents’ lives, he could survive practically anything. But he knew he would be miserable, and unable to trust in love ever again. So he’d die a grumpy, lonely old man with nothing to show for it but a thriving medical practice, and well regarded in his community. Big deal. “You’re awfully quiet,” she murmured, her warm lips pressing against his chest, her hands fluttering over him. He closed his eyes, his cock growing hard at just the mere brush of her mouth. “Just thinking.” “Nothing bad about me, hmm?” Her hands drifted down toward his already full erection. Slim fingers encircled it, and he grunted at the gentle contact. “Never,” he lied with a growl. Her hand slid up and down, squeezing him, making him want to burst. “I want to make love with you for the rest of the day. Forget about
50
Karen Erickson the food.” Lily slithered down his body, her lush mouth taking him in, and he tangled his hands in her hair. “Okay,” he said weakly. Her lips moved up and down his cock, one hand gripping the base, the other playing with his balls. The woman had certainly come a long way from the first time he made love with her. He suspected she’d been a virgin, but she’d never confirmed or denied the fact, and there were no telltale signs left afterward, so he had no clue. But where she had once been shy and reserved, she now went for it, went for him. He liked it, and he knew she more than liked it, too. She released him from her warm wet mouth to stare up at him with pleasure‐filled eyes. “I want you to come in my mouth, and then I want to come in your mouth. A little Christmas treat for each other. What do you think?” “Oh, God, Lily, I think that sounds fine to me.” How could he really answer that? The woman could suck his dick for all eternity, and he probably still wouldn’t be satisfied. He couldn’t get enough of her. He’d climaxed twice already this very merry Christmas day, and he was on the verge of climaxing again with that luscious mouth sliding up and down his shaft, those elegant fingers gripping him so tight, just the way he liked it. He tried to hold back, to prolong the satisfying experience of feeling her lips take him in as far as she could go, but he couldn’t. He let go with a shout of her name, his semen spurting into her mouth, and she drank from him, her gaze meeting his as she licked the very last drop clinging to the tip of his cock. “I love to watch you come,” Lily murmured. Oh, she did, yes, so much. His face would go slack, his mouth hanging open a little, his eyes squeezed shut, and he’d throw his head back. A little shudder would course through his body right before he climaxed so she always knew when it his orgasm was about to take over. She couldn’t get enough of watching him experience that intense moment of ecstasy. Couldn’t get enough of tasting him. Swallowing the very essence of him. She wondered, if she drank enough from him today, would she be able to take him back with her to Fairy Land? Goodness, she was losing her normally sensible mind. In fact, her
51
Fairies & Wishes very sensible mind was growing fuzzy as he kissed her, his tongue lazily tangling with hers, and he rolled her over onto her back, his hands sliding up and down her naked body. It all just felt so good, so wonderful, so right. Almost like she was meant to be with this man, loving him for as long as she lived. That’s exactly where she wanted to be, what she wanted to do. Lily knew in her heart of hearts it wasn’t going to happen. “It’s your turn,” he whispered against her neck, then began kissing and licking a blazing hot trail down her chest, over her nipples, across her belly. “It’s my turn for what?” Her mind drew a blank, which was nothing new when she was being touched by Tim’s magic hands and kissed by his magic mouth. Fairy dust had nothing on him, that was for sure. He propped himself right above her throbbing— Goodness, she could barely think it, but they’d been engaging in small sessions of dirty talk lately, so she was just going for it. Her throbbing wet pussy. She spread her legs, anticipating what he was about to do. “It’s your turn to come in my mouth,” he whispered just before he drew his tongue over her soft curls, parting her lower lips to search her drenched folds. “Mmm,” she purred, clutching at his head. She loved nothing more than having his big—oh she wanted to giggle, but she held it inside—cock moving inside of her, but she so enjoyed it when he licked and nibbled and sucked her down there. Her orgasms were so much more intense and, generous man that he was, she usually had at least a couple of them while he tended to her with his mouth and hands. She loved it best when he sucked on her tiny clit, thrusting two fingers in and out of her like he did with his penis. Goodness, she hoped he would start doing that soon. She wiggled beneath him in anticipation. Lily heard him, felt him chuckle against her as he slipped one, then two, thick fingers inside of her slick channel, rimming around her entry before thrusting them deep inside. His tongue circled her nub, and she cried out, arching against him as he drew it into his mouth and began to
52
Karen Erickson suck. “Yes, yes, yes!” she screamed, pulling so tight on his hair she must’ve hurt him, but she didn’t care. It all just felt so good and she didn’t want it to end… * * * * * Tim woke up slowly, the glare of the morning sun shining through the filmy curtains. He stretched, throwing his arms high above him, and turned over onto his other side. To find he was totally and completely alone. He leapt out of bed and stalked toward the bathroom and threw the partially closed door open, to find no one in there. He ran down the stairs to the kitchen, cold as could be considering he didn’t have a stitch of clothing on, fully expecting to find Lily fixing him breakfast, but she wasn’t in there either. He’d been right. Lily had left without a word. Abandoned him. He slumped against the wall, his heart feeling as if it had been sliced in two. He pushed away from the wall and walked back up the stairs, his shoulders slumping, his body oblivious to the cold. Where could she have gone? Why did she leave? Everything had been so wonderful yesterday. He’d been so close to telling her he loved her. Maybe that’s where he blew it. He walked into his bathroom, turned on the shower, and got underneath the spray of water even though it was ice cold. He didn’t even notice. His mind was too wrapped up in thoughts of Lily. How beautiful she’d been when they’d finally made dinner at ten o’clock last night. Naked except for the necklace he gave her dangling from her neck, digging through the refrigerator. Her pert ass waved back and forth while she’d searched for something to eat, and he’d touched her hot wet pussy, couldn’t resist touching her. Made her climax right there with his fingers, while she held on tight to the fridge door. They’d snuggled in bed together later, their arms wrapped around each other tight, Tim’s face buried in her beautiful red hair. He’d breathed in her scent, felt her shift against him, and he knew then that he’d never
53
Fairies & Wishes been happier, never felt more fulfilled. And now, he’d never felt so empty. He got out of the shower and heard the phone ring. His ran to answer it, hoping it was Lily. Disappointment filled him when Angie said, “Doctor, Gladys Miller needs to see you this morning, says it’s urgent.” “Are you at the office, Angie?” “Of course. You said you wanted to open today, figured a lot of people would want to drop by after small disasters over the Christmas holiday. And you were right. The phone has been ringing off the hook since I arrived, and your day is already half scheduled.” Tim sighed. The last thing he wanted to do was deal with patients today, but he had to. It would probably help take his mind off Lily. He hoped. “What time does Gladys want to see me?” “Like right now. She’s already in the waiting room. I guess her hip has been bothering her, and she’s in a lot of pain.” “Tell her to hold tight and I’ll be there in 15 minutes.” Tim hung up the phone and threw it on the bed, staring at the sheets’ disheveled state. He was filled with the overwhelming urge to punch his fist into the wall, to throw the mattress off the bed and burn the bedding. His body filled with anger, with hurt, with need. Need for his angel. For Lily. * * * * * “Lily?” She lifted her head to find the warm, kind gaze of the mistress fairy gazing at her, a frown marring her pink sparkly face. “Leave me alone,” she croaked, a sob threatening to choke her. She’d never spoken to the mistress like that before. Goodness, she was behaving so rudely. Of course, her entire world had changed the day after Christmas. She was no longer with her beloved doctor. She was trapped on her cloud waiting for the next holiday season. She’d never been more miserable in all her years.
54
Karen Erickson “My dear, what’s wrong?” Mistress stroked her hair. “I want my doctor,” Lily wailed, tears flowing down her cheeks. “I miss him so much. I just want to be with him forever.” “Oh, Lily.” The mistress sighed, and Lily watched her with tear‐ filled eyes, barely able to see her. She sniffed loudly, not even caring how un‐fairylike she sounded. “I guess we should’ve warned you, but Madam did mention when you came back that you went about your task the wrong way.” “So I failed.” Lily threw herself back onto her fluffy pillow, the tears freely flowing. “I’ve never failed a task before! I’m sure you’ll banish me now. I deserve to go.” “We would never banish you, dear. And you didn’t necessarily fail your task. You were supposed to teach the doctor how to love, and you did that. But you were supposed to help him fall in love with someone else. Not you.” “I love him, too!” Lily punched her fist into the pillow. “I love him so much it hurts.” “And he loves you too, Lily. He’s suffering just as much as you. For that, I’m so sorry.” “I want to be mortal.” Lily knew she sounded like a spoiled child, but she didn’t care. She wanted her handsome doctor, and she wanted him now. Mistress sighed again. “You can’t become mortal, you know that.” Lily sat up, glaring at the mistress. “I’ve heard of other fairies becoming human, of staying behind on earth. Why can’t I do it? It’s not fair.” “They became mortal because those fairies were young, inexperienced, and they stayed behind after their tasks were completed, when they were supposed to come back. You’re already here.” Mistress shook her head. “You can’t go back. No one ever goes back. Besides, if you became mortal, you would have a life span such as the humans. You wouldn’t be able to live forever, to bring joy to others for all eternity.” “I don’t care about bringing joy to others for all eternity when I have no joy left inside of me! I would rather have a few years of joy with

Fairies & Wishes Tim than be stuck up here forever!” Mistress regarded her for a moment, and Lily wondered if she’d pushed too far. “Lily, how about I make you a children’s fairy.” Oh, how Lily had wanted that so badly before she went down to earth, before she met Tim. She had yearned for all of the pink, all of the status. “I’m not worthy of the children, I’m not worthy to wear pink. You should make me a sprite that has to answer the fairy council’s calls. That’s more along the lines of what I deserve!” “What if I promised you the prettiest pink gown and sparkly pink eyelashes just like mine? You won’t have to wear one trace of red, with the exception of your hair. And I could even help turn that pink, too.” Mistress fluttered her own pretty eyelashes for emphasis. “No.” Lily shook her head, wiped the tears off her face. She’d coveted those eyelashes for so long and now they just didn’t measure up. Nothing measured up to the emotions that filled her for her beloved doctor. Nothing ever would, unless she reunited with Tim, spending forever with him. “You’ll get over this.” Mistress patted her knee and stood, her pink wings quivering in the chill of Lily’s cloud. “You’ll see it is best that you’re here and your young man is on earth. He’ll be fine, I promise you. We’ll watch over him for a while and make sure he recovers well. If you meet me at the council boardroom in two days’ time, your pink fairy gown will be waiting for you. And then I can council you on how to become a children’s fairy. Doesn’t that sound nice?” “No, it doesn’t sound nice. I don’t want the dress, I don’t want the eyelashes, I don’t want to be here. I only want Tim!”

Chapter Eight “Don’t tell me this is about Lily again.” Madam shook her head, her silvery blonde hair spilling over her slim shoulders. “I’m afraid so, Madam,” Mistress murmured, sitting down before her. “She is so upset and nothing makes her happy. And she was always one of our more pleasant fairies, too.” “Did you make her a children’s fairy like you said you wanted to? Isn’t that what she always wanted?” Mistress nodded. “I did, despite her reluctance. I gilded her hair with pink frost, I gave her the sparkly eyelashes she’s always wanted. I even gave her the prettiest pink gown, the one I would’ve taken, just to please her. But nothing pleases her. She walks around crying, miserable, wailing for her doctor. She’s not fit to help any children right now. I haven’t even bothered with counseling her. I don’t know if she ever will be fit for the role.” Madam sighed. “I just don’t know what else we can do for her. She needs to snap out of this mood, needs to begin counseling so she can help all of the needy children on earth. I thought she was prepared for the last task, but I guess I was wrong. So disappointing.” “You could make her mortal.” Mistress said it so softly she wondered if Madam even heard her. “What did you say?” Madam glared at her. “Make her mortal? She’s one of our best fairies!” “A fairy that is so unhappy I don’t know if she’ll ever be the same
57
Fairies & Wishes again.” Mistress sat up straighter, ready to plead her case. “She misses her doctor. She’s in love with him. And he’s in love with her. He’s suffering just as she is. I’ve been watching him. He needs our Lily.” “I don’t think it is right to send her back to earth just because she wants to go, just because she misses him. She failed in her task, and she needs to get over it. What will sending her back teach the other fairies? Soon we’ll lose all of them because they think they want to be mortal!” Mistress shook her head. “This is different, Madam. Trust me. We send her back, but we won’t tell anybody. We won’t even tell Lily, so she doesn’t have a chance to talk to the others. I truly feel it’s in her best interest that she goes back to earth, that she becomes human and spends more time with the man she claims she’s in love with. I will miss her, but I believe it’s what she needs. What her young man needs, too.” Madam watched her, her gaze sharp, her expression thoughtful. Silence hung heavy in the air, and Mistress was afraid she’d ruined Lily’s chance. She’d given it much thought over the past few days, had watched Dr. Tim Killian mope around, hardly able to focus, unable to sleep. He went through so many emotions, his face such a mask of pain, Mistress hurt inside for him so much it nearly overwhelmed her. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d hurt so much for a mortal. A mortal she didn’t even have to take care of. “Do you really believe we’ve lost our special Lily?” Madam finally asked. Mistress nodded, her pink curls bobbing around her head. “I do. I really do. She will be so much happier with her young man. I believe they are meant to be together.” Madam shuffled papers on her pristine white desk. “If you send her down, you’ll have to load her memory with history before she goes. She needs something to tell people, a basis for others to believe in. Something even for her to believe in.” Hope spread through her, and she had to contain herself before her pink glittery wings started fluttering. “Oh, yes, I have drawn up a bit of history for her already.” “Good. And I think it is best she doesn’t remember her time here as
58
Karen Erickson a fairy.” “Oh, Mistress, I cannot take that away from her. It’s what made her who she is.” Madam sighed. “Very well, let her remember her time being a fairy. But don’t let her recall everything.” Mistress stood, excitement bubbling up inside of her. She couldn’t wait to send Lily back. Couldn’t wait to watch her be happy again on earth. “We’re doing the right thing, Madam, I promise you.” “I certainly hope you’re right.” * * * * * Tim stared at the paperwork before him, but he really couldn’t see it, couldn’t even concentrate. He dropped the pen he’d been holding and it landed with a loud clatter on his desk, breaking the utter silence in his office, in the entire building, making him wince. He rubbed the bridge of his nose with his fingers and closed his eyes for a moment, a large sigh escaping him. It had been nearly a week since he’d last seen Lily. One entire week he’d spent searching for her all over Santa Augustina, but she was no where to be found. It was as if she never even existed. Angie felt sorry for him; he could see it in her eyes. His entire staff treated him like an injured animal ready to snap at a moment’s notice. And he felt that way, too. He couldn’t remember being this upset when his parents died, and that had been the single worst event of his entire life. Until now. Until he lost the woman he loved. Nothing seemed to compare to that. He glanced at the clock sitting atop his bookshelf, saw that it was past eight o’clock on New Year’s Eve. He’d shut down early, at noon, and let his employees go home to celebrate and do whatever they did on this monumental holiday. He’d rather be alone anyway. Alone in his misery and sadness. Hayden and Kara had invited him to a small gathering they were hosting to ring in the New Year, but he turned them down. Why bring everyone else down when it was a night to celebrate, to remember
59
Fairies & Wishes the year just passed with fondness and to look forward to a new year with fresh possibilities? He didn’t see any fresh possibilities in his future. All he saw was loneliness. A soft knock sounded on his already open door and he startled. He glanced up to find the very woman he thought he lost standing in the doorway, looking a bedraggled mess. Her hair hung in wet chunks around her face, her skin paler than normal, tears streaking down her cheeks. Her green eyes shone with unshed tears, and she wore the ugliest bright pink sweat suit he’d ever seen. But he noticed that the necklace he gave her still hung from her slender neck. He’d never been happier to see anyone. “Can I come in?” Her voice was weak. She clutched at the door handle, and he was afraid she would turn away if he waited to long to speak. Tim leapt up from the desk and went to her, stopping just before her. “Where did you go?” “I, uh, had some unfinished business to take care of. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you I was leaving. Will you ever forgive me?” Her lips trembled and another tear slid down her cheek. All of the anger he felt about her disappearance, her running away from him, vanished at the sight of her. He wiped the tears from her face with a gentle finger, and she closed her eyes, her dark red eyelashes fluttering against her pale skin. “I worried about you so much. I’m just glad to see you’re okay.” She opened her eyes and nodded, an attempt at a smile lifting the corners of her mouth. “I’ll explain everything later tonight, I promise, okay? Could we go back to your house so I can take a shower? I’m freezing.” “Come here.” He opened his arms, and she walked into them, her slender arms slipping around his waist, holding him tight. He closed his eyes against the emotions welling up inside him, so glad to have her back. He squeezed her to him, and he worried he would never be able to let go. “I missed you so much, Tim. I love you,” she cried, her voice

Karen Erickson muffled against his chest. “Ah, Lily, I love you, too. But you can never leave me like that again, promise?” She gazed up at him with all the love and hope he felt mirrored in her shining eyes. The tears had dried up and a real smile grew on her face. “I promise. I swear to you that I’ll be yours forever, if you’ll have me.” “I’ll definitely have you.” He pressed his mouth to hers, the kiss soft, so full of love it nearly overwhelmed him. “I’ll have you every which way I can, if you’ll let me.” She smiled against his lips, her arms tightening even more around him. He didn’t realize she was so strong. He struggled to even breathe, though he had a feeling more was involved in regards to that problem. “Goodness, that sounds simply...wonderful.”

Epilogue “I don’t understand why you two had to get married on Christmas day,” Kara said with a shake of her head, a grin on her face. “Don’t you see how you’re ruining your shot at another day for gifts, Lily?” Lily smiled because she knew her friend was joking. “It’s my favorite day of the year. What better time to marry the man I love?” “I think it’s perfect, bro,” Hayden piped up, punching Tim on the shoulder. “It’s a lot easier to remember your anniversary, that’s for sure.” “Christmas is a special time,” Lily said, her eyes meeting Tim’s. “An enchanted time of the year we wanted to make even more special.” “Well, we’ve always been partial to Halloween ourselves,” Kara said, and Hayden wrapped his arm around his shoulders. “And we were married on Valentine’s Day, so I guess we all love the different holidays.” Tim came to her and pressed a kiss to her forehead. She snuggled closer to her newly declared husband, her arms wrapped tight around him as if she would never let him go. She was still amazed that they’d even been able to find a minister to marry them during the busy churchgoing Christmas day, but they did. The entire day had come together with ease, almost as if someone was guiding all of the plans, helping it all come together. Lily had a secret suspicion it was her former mistress. She glanced up at the cloudy coastal sky and smiled, hoping that Mistress saw it. “Who are you smiling at?” Tim whispered in her ear. Lily shivered and pressed her cheek to his. “My guardian angel. I

Karen Erickson feel like she’s had a hand in all of this today.” “You’re my guardian angel,” he said, kissing her earlobe. “Without you, my life wouldn’t be nearly as full.” “Oh, Tim.” She slipped her arms around him, her bouquet of pink roses dangling from her fingers. “I love you so much. I can’t imagine my life without you.” He held her close, his fingers gliding over the pale pink lace of her wedding dress. “I love you too, angel. We have the rest of our lives to enjoy each other.” “Let’s start enjoying each other right now,” she said, her voice a seductive whisper. “Whatever you wish, my angel. Whatever you wish.”

It’s about time you take control of your own body,” Noura said. Sommer pressed the phone between her ear and shoulder. Her friend and coworker was right. She’d been telling Sommer that for years, but she’d been so repressed she thought she had no other choice but to count on a man to give her mind blowing orgasms. The problem? Most men sheʹd been with hadnʹt given her any mind blowing orgasms. No multiple orgasms, no feeling like she was going to die orgasms, nothing. Oh, sometimes a pleasant washing over sort of feeling would happen. But nothing that rocked her world. “I bought a vibrator online,” she confessed in a hushed whisper, not wanting anyone to hear her. Not that anyone was in her office, but talking about it made her uncomfortable. “Ordered it online. It came yesterday.”
65
Fairies & Wishes “So did you come yesterday?” Noura asked. Sommer giggled. Yes, she had. A few times. She’d been so sensitive down there by the end of her vibrator breaking in session that it had taken her forever just to pee. But she didn’t need to share the dirty details. “I did.” “Well, vibrators are great, but you need to find yourself a real man. Some big, strapping guy whoʹll take you on your desk at work. Someone you donʹt care about, a delicious man you just want to have sex with. Get a few of those potential orgasms out of your system, only with a warm body versus a battery operated machine.” “Oh, yeah. But just who the heck can I find around here to ravish me on my desk?” Sommer shivered as she remembered a handsome man she’d seen in the elevator a few days ago. Tall and broad shouldered, with dark hair and a nice ass. She’d been unable to look at him straight on, but from what she could tell by her glimpse of his profile he had high cheekbones, perfectly sculpted lips, and beautiful eyes. Dreamy. Noura snorted, so loudly Sommer had to hold the phone away from her ear. “There’s no one at work who would even qualify as Ravish on the Desk material. Please. Although there are probably some interesting prospects in the building. We should go on a hunt some day soon.” “Great. So what do we say when we spot a hunky one? ‘Hey, could you come back to my office and have wild monkey sex with me? I’m trying to regain control of my orgasms.’” Sommer giggled again. “I don’t think so.” “We’re not going to be blatant, Sommer. Come on! But it doesn’t hurt to see who’s closest to us. You never know. We could find some hot man for you to do in no time.” Sommer thought of Mr. Hot Man in the Elevator and twirled the phone cord around her index finger. He was probably a client of one of the businesses in the building. A one shot deal. She’d most likely never see him again. “I think I’m better off with my vibrator for now.” “A vibrator doesn’t have hands, a mouth, or a tongue,” Noura said. “A vibrator can only satisfy you for so long.”
66
Karen Erickson “Yeah, yeah, tell me about it,” Sommer muttered as she started composing an email to a client. Nothing happened. She moved the mouse across the screen. Nothing. Typed furiously on the keyboard. Nada. Crap. “It’s true, you can get vibrated for only so long, and then it’s going to become an addiction and no guy will ever be able to satisfy you—“ “Shit!” Sommer banged her fists on her now useless keyboard. “Look, Noura, I gotta go. My computer just died on me again.” She disconnected and hit the button that quick‐dialed the receptionist. She had a huge project due in two days and she was barely halfway finished. She did not need her computer to fritz out on her now. “Hey, Joanie. You got the number for that IT place on the fourth floor? My computer just died.” “I’ll call them for you,” Joanie said. “Do you need them to come right away?” “Definitely. It’s an emergency. Thanks.” Sommer hung up, then punched the keys on her keyboard to no avail. It was frozen solid, had been freezing on her for the past couple of weeks, but she’d always brushed it off, restarted the computer, and gone on her merry way. That probably wasn’t the best way to handle a computer problem, but she never had the time to worry about it, always told herself she’d deal with it later. Big mistake. Her phone rang and she snatched it up. “A tech is coming down to your office right now. Watch for him.” “Thanks, Joanie. I appreciate it.” While she waited, she decided to go through her stack of mail, something she’d been neglecting as of late. As a junior account executive for a small advertising firm, Sommer had been swamped with various projects the senior executive had dumped on her. She didn’t mind. She loved her work and was dedicated. With no boyfriend take up her time, she spent lots of late nights at the office. She figured all this hard work would eventually pay off, so why not put in as much time as she could before life got in the way? Boring, boring, boring, she thought as she shuffled through the envelopes. If anyone had anything important to say, they sent it via email, and since she couldn’t open her email program, she was stuck. Maybe she
67
Fairies & Wishes could grab one of the laptops the advertising team shared and work from that, although her important information was stored on her actual computer. Hopefully, if the global freezing hadn’t wiped it out. She was so stupid for not backing up her files. Very important files, she reminded herself. Suddenly the Garbage song started playing her head. “Stupid Girl—” A soft knock sounded on her office door and Sommer glanced up. She sucked in a breath, practically choking on the air she inhaled. As if her imagination had conjured him up, there stood the very man she’d been lusting after—the man from the elevator. In the flesh. Unable to speak, she cleared her throat, coughed, and waved him in. “Youʹre having trouble with your computer?” he asked. Aha. He was from the IT company. A computer geek. He blinked at her from behind his glasses and she sucked in too much air yet again. He had the most beautiful eyes sheʹd ever seen. Long, black lashes surrounded irises that wavered between green and blue. The thin wire rimmed glasses he wore only accentuated their intensity, their masculine beauty. Suddenly hypnotized, she gazed into them. “Your computer, Miss Daniels?” he asked politely, looking at her as if sheʹd lost her marbles. She nodded and sat up straighter in her chair. Trying to be serious and businesslike, when she wanted nothing more but to throw herself at his feet and beg him to touch her. “Yes, it keeps freezing up and shutting itself down. I donʹt know whatʹs wrong with it.” “Let me take a look at it,” he said, walking over to her so he stood next to her chair. “Is it under your desk?” Sommer looked up at him. The sudden image of him beneath her desk, touching her bare legs, filled her thoughts and she blinked—and tried to banish the naughty thoughts. He smiled at her and just like that, she felt her panties grow wet. “Your tower. Is it under your desk?” He sounded as if he were talking to an imbecile. “Oh, yes. Of course it is.” She laughed nervously. “Iʹm sorry. Iʹm a
68
Karen Erickson little slow on the uptake this afternoon. I have a huge deadline at the end of the week and computer problems are the last thing I need right now.” “Well, let me get under there, Miss Daniels, and I’ll take a look at it.” Still sitting with her delectable legs crossed and her short skirt hitched up to reveal a lengthy expanse of thigh, Sommer pushed away from the desk. Ted Maxwell licked his lips in anticipation. He normally wasnʹt a leg man; he preferred a nice ass to grab hold of and squeeze. But legs like hers demanded attention and imagination. Yes, indeed, he could see himself grabbing her slender ankles, running his hands up her shapely calves to the inside of her thighs, then pushing them open so he could tongue her pussy with long, slow licks . . . Shit. He needed to focus, to fix this sexy womanʹs computer and get the hell out of her office. Why did frickinʹ Stan have to call in sick today? Ted cursed his employee for about the 70th time since this morning. He hadnʹt made a repair call like this for months. Hell, he didn’t have to. He spent all his time in the office. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d been out in the field. He tried to power up her computer, but it wouldn’t even turn on. Not good. He shook his head and muttered an oath. “Do you think youʹll be able to fix it this afternoon?” Sommer asked in her sweet voice. Ted grunted. “Do you have another computer you can work on while I try to repair this one?” She sighed, the sound washing over him and making his dick stand at attention. He could imagine her sighing just like that right before he kissed her. Touched her. Entered her from behind, on top, whatever. “I have a laptop, but the information I need for my project is saved on this computer.” “You donʹt back it up?” He came out from underneath her desk but still sat on the floor, facing her—and abruptly realized his face was level with her crossed legs. Her crotch. He willed her to uncross and cross her legs, a la the movie “Basic Instinct”, so he could catch a glimpse of panties,
69
Fairies & Wishes or no panties. Either one would please him just fine. Miss Daniels bit down on her lip, drawing his gaze to the sweet fullness of it. Her lips were plump, ripe. Kissable. She shook her head. “Not as often as I should, it seems.” “Everyone learns that lesson when something like this happens.” He reached back under the desk, unplugged all the cords and dragged out the tower. “Iʹll take this back to my office and see what I can do with it.” “Oh, that would be wonderful.” She smiled at him, and he felt as if heʹd been punched in the gut. Damn, she was beautiful. Big brown eyes, full lips, smooth skin. Her brown hair was pulled back in a severe ponytail that he longed to undo, to watch all that hair fall around her sweet face. “Iʹll be working late tonight, so please donʹt hesitate to call if you fix it before the evening is over.” “No problem.” Oh, he longed to call her all right. Just not in the way she was expecting. He had other computers to worry about and other emergency repairs to make, and considering he was down a man for the day, he was running way behind. But that wasn’t going to stop him from working on Miss Sommer Daniels’ computer the minute he got back to the office. Other clients, be damned.
